Agreed. That is the weakness in the proposal - you need the Magic to be happy committing money to Lopez and Humphries and those players happy with the money and going to the Magic. I could see the Magic trying to involve another team or two to steer Humphries and Lopez elsewhere and get young talent + picks instead.
Yeah, they could very well do that, but it's not a major blow. It just means it expands to a 3 or 4-team deal and there isn't a single GM in the league with more experience at multi-team trades than Billy King.
The main thing is that because Dwight wants to play in Brooklyn and Brooklyn only, other teams won't be able to offer the amount of assets that the Nets are willing to offer. As an asset, Brook Lopez could garner a young promising player in return and a future-lottery protected first. Humphries is worth a decent role player and 2nd rd pick.
Either way, a young promising player, a good role player, and 2-3 first round picks is a good deal for an expiring (albeit star) player. If a 3rd or 4th team needs to be involved to get that, it can be done.
Nets can always buy picks with cash as well.
EDIT: Quoted your wrong post.
