Dunlap should hire Matt Carroll to be our shooting coach. That way Rubber Hammer won't need to pick up his player option.

Sam Amick @sam_amick
Might a legendary Runnin' Rebel be headed to Charlotte? Source says UNLV assistant Stacey Augmon has been offered an assistant job by new Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap, but it's unclear if he will accept. Augmon played 15 NBA seasons in all, and one in Charlotte (2001-02).

However, the Bobcats are trying to work out a deal to keep Stephen Silas, who worked as an assistant the last season-and-a-half under his father, former Bobcats coach Paul Silas. Stephen Silas was among those who interviewed for the Bobcats head coaching job before Dunlap was hired. Oklahoman

Talks about Augmon coming possibly and retaining Silas Jr.

augmon, silas jr, brunson - three young eager coaches, three guys w/out any head coaching experience, no big man coach so far.

too early to question dunlaps staff, but i was hoping for at least one asst with prev NBA head coaching experience. maybe that is overrated.

I'm not sure many former HC's would want to join our team. We'd probably have to opt for someone like Tim Floyd and I'm not even sure he would leave his head coaching gig at UTEP to come here.

Reminds me of Ron Riveras coaching staff, we def need a big man coach, couldn't we get Ewing?

Brunson was a scrub as a player, so maybe he's a decent coach.

Rick Bonnell ‏@rick_bonnell
Looks like Stephen Silas is returning as a #Bobcats assistant. Rick Brunson has started work, too. (cont.)

Another candidate for Dunlap's staff, Stacey Augmon, visited practice today. He works for UNLV.

Great piece here on Coach D after day #1 of SL.

A lot of really good tid bits. Here are some:

On the Clown's style Vs Coach D's:

Dunlap is demanding without being so abrasive.

On our style next season:

Dunlap is assembling an offense tailor-made for Walker.
Help Walker get to the rim in the first eight seconds of a possession
Coach Paul Silas wanted to run more last season, but had limited results. For now, at least, Dunlap won’t allow an alternative to running.

“We’re going to get the ball down, instead of like last year when we got into our offense with 10 to 12 seconds left on the (shot) clock,’’ Mullens said.” Now we’re into our offense with 20 to 18 seconds left. It’s going to be fast-paced, so you better be in shape.’’

“We won’t have a thick playbook. Offensively, first-and-foremost, is the pass. I believe in the pass. That’s a trademark to be developed over time.

“Defensively, I love ball-pressure. We’ve got to do it the right way, so we’re not fouling all the time, but people should say, ‘They really get after it.’ ”

i have yet to hear or read anything about dunlap that i dont like. the trick for him will be finding that balance between getting his message across, teaching discipline in the face of massive losing, w/out losing the players or destroying their confidence. he seems to understand that if you are tough, but fair and you don't hold grudges, the players will respect you and respond positively.

The same Matt Carroll who has shot 27%, 13%, 21%, 37%, and 19% from three since 2008? As our shooting coach?

Here's a list of guys on this team who shot threes at a better percentage than Matt last year: Everyone except Diop and Biz. Even Higgins and Moon.

Moon.

Jamario. F***ing. Moon.

Think about that.

Charlotte Bobcats ‏@bobcats

Dunlapism- That's why we call it practice. Make mistakes & learn from them. I don't get mad at that. I get mad at lack of effort #CatsVegas
