How about keep Esco and promote Hech. That's probably what happens

Trade Yunel Escobar and hope Adeiny Hechavarria gives us 2 years of Rey Ordonez before we turn on him for his deplorable offense.

Re: What to do with the SS/2B positions next season?
Reports are saying the Jays are "souring" on Escobar as a long term player. Initially I thought maybe they weren't happy with his play (which would be valid but perhaps short sighted) but I get a feeling based on Escobar's personality that the reason they may be looking to move him is because he has already told the team he won't move to 2B next season. Just a thought.
Either way I think we need to go outside the organization for our starting 2B next season.

Link these reports, sounds interesting.
If that's the case, ship Yunel out at the deadline and call up Hech.

Knobler:
Another rival official said that the Jays are souring on shortstop Yunel Escobar, and suggested he could be on the move to make room for Adeiny Hechevarria. The original plan had been for Escobar to eventually shift to second base, but the thinking now is that the Blue Jays could prefer to move him to another team, instead.

Move both Escobar and KJ. In the off-season, either trade for a 2B, or sign on in FA. Have Hech be the starting SS out of spring training.

Anybody got a list of the second base UFAs for this offseason?
I don't mind KJ, but if he is going to get 10 mil a year, I think there are some better options.
Also I don't know if Esco has much value at 2b, he's not quick or has much range. Most of his value is in his arm, so you would want to keep him on the left side of the infield.

Re: What to do with the SS/2B positions next season?
I have no real interest in watching Hech hack away as a rookie starting SS/2B during a supposed contending year. If his value gets high enough in AAA, include him as part of a trade for pitching.
Yunel should obviously be kept with his contract (it also helps that he's still a good defensive SS who has shown significant offensive ability in the past). Keep him at SS until he shows he can't play the position any longer and we're not anywhere close to that.
If KJ isn't getting any three year offers, I'd certainly like to bring him back for a year or two. He's better than he's shown over the last month or so with that injury and there is no better 2B out there that can be acquired easily.

I'm surprised most people here have soured on KJ. He started off great and was our best player early on. Clearly the injury affected him, and he's slowed down since.
I'd keep this tandem going forward.

we don't even know if Escobar would play 2B. WTF do we do with 2B next year is something i've been asking myself lately after a period of denial.

It's not that people have soured on him, as much as he will be in demand this off-season, and a team might throw a crazy contract at him. I could see the Tigers or Dodgers doing something stupid.

If Escobar would move to second or if Hech would play second keep this tandem. KJ is a nice player but if I wouold like to keep him and trade one of the other options if his price isnt to high.
