Be patient, if it's a good opportunity with what Mitch wants do the deal if anything is missing pass.

Yeah, even if he wanted to play in LA and was open to it from the get go, his recent back troubles should be of concern to anyone. Not just that, but the entire holding Orlando hostage, getting Stan fired, and being a big huge egocentric ass should be enough to put anyone off minus the Nets. They're desperate to be relevant right away so you could see them overlooking the baggage Howard would bring to the table.

Worst case scenario we're in the position Orlando is in right now when next season ends.. Dwight isn't going to turn down that extra year & more money.. I trust Mitch to get a S&T done that keeps us competitive if it comes down to that.. Once Dwight gets a taste of what the Lakers & Kobe are about I think he'll be a Laker for life..

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
Orlando has not ruled out trading Dwight Howard to the Nets, league source says. Talks with Lakers also continuing.

Sources tell Woj that Orlando doesn't think the Nets deal is all that appealing, yet hours later a source tells Ken Berger that Orlando is open to trading with Brooklyn. Either Orlando is as wishy-washy as their franchise center, Orlando is leaking stories in hope of trying to gain some leverage, or someone's just lying.

Exactly. There can't be that many conflicting stories.

Orlando can sink to hell, no Turk, no J-Rich or any other trash they're trying to throw away.

If Dwight's not going to sign long term with anybody but Brooklyn then that makes Brooklyn the best trade partner. Nobody else is going to give up significant pieces if Dwight won't give them a long term guarantee.

Would make LA a serious contender in the West if they can also hold onto Gasol.

If that turns out to be the case....I'm not sure it is....at least the Lakers gave back something that resulted from missing the playoffs (2005). That's not usually how it works in Lakerland.

If Brooklyn was the best trade partner then Orlando would've already traded him to Brooklyn, and this game of who blinks first between the Lakers and Magic wouldn't be happening.

StrengthNHonor wrote:It's not LA. It's Kobe he doesn't want to play with.

1) Kobe "I eat first and second" Bryant

2) Then you have the obvious problem of Howard never getting any MVP or Finals MVP votes because the team is Kobe's. He can shoot 6-24 and still get the MVP based off reputation, as Pau Gasol situation has shown you.

3) Then you have the situation where Howard's youth and talent would only be used by the Laker franchise and fans to prop up Kobe's twilight years. He would be a whipping boy when things go bad, same as Odom, Gasol, and Bynum.

Howard wants his own team, a better situation, and with a willing passer unlike Kobe. In Brooklyn, Howard gets a brand new arena, with a rich owner, a great willing passing PG in Deron, and the team is his.

A lot of truth in that post. The Kobe fanboys would cream themselves at the title contention earned on Howard's arrival (as they did with Gasol's) and they would give almost ALL the credit to Kobe. We're currently in a revisionist era where these kids are portraying Gasol as a non-superstar who never won a playoff game instead of the guy who INSTANTLY made the Lakers and Kobe relevant again as winners.

If the Lakers include Artest then it's reasonable for the Magic to include Jason Richardson or Turkoglu. Definitely not both of them. Richardson makes slightly less but has one more year on his deal. By that time though Gasol and Kobe's contracts will have expired and they'll either be elsewhere or on new more cap-friendly deals. I'd take Turkoglu first though simply because he has one less year on his deal and there's a $6M buyout for 2013-14.

So, Magic have their choice of one of these 3 offers:

a. Howard for Bynum straight up
b. Howard and Richardson for Bynum and MWP
c. Howard and Turkoglu for Bynum, MWP, McRoberts

What are the chances Howard chooses to walk to BK over a S&T with LA ?

call me entitled, egotistical or whatever but he would be an absolute moron to do so.
