Howard wants to be the man on the franchise and knows the Nets owner will spend money like crazy to build a team around him.

Except under the new CBA, the owners income has less to do with how much can be spent on a team...

Once your core is set under the cap, it gets very difficult to spend more money to bring players in.

No MLE, no ability to bid on amnestied players, etc... You're stuck picking from the MMLE players and Vet Mins...

This Nets owner don't care about luxury tax. This guy farts out thousand dollar bills

What does it matter if Kobe is a team player or not? He has 5 rings and 2 Finals MVPs, he obviously did something right in his career. Haters can say all they want but the proof is there. If LeBron or Durant had 5 rings and Kobe had 1, then you could say something. I don't see anyone discrediting LeBron for his ring after ditching Cleveland where he promised to win a ring, then pairing with 2 all-stars. Nobody would discredit Durant for having Westbrook & Harden if he won it all. Haters only apply this to Kobe. Kobe averages about 5 ast per game, Durant averages about 3. So don't come to me with that selfish crazy talk.

It's not about Luxury Tax or his flatulent disregard for money in general...

The CBA severely limits how you can spend you're albeit stinky, money...

Dude, it's realgm. A lot of these guys are butthurt Tmac/VC fans that are upset that neither of them has even gotten close to the finals, let alone a championship.

you don't go to 7 finals as the 1st or 2nd best player and not be team oriented.

You can't win 5 of the last 10 titles, come out with 2 FMVPs and not be team oriented.

the proof is in the pudding, the haters talk all they want about Kobe, but they're talking through sound proof glass and look like morons.

If Brooklyn can't cut deal with Orlando for Dwight Howard, strong possibility it'll move to keep forward Kris Humphries, source tells Y!

Unless there's some loophole in how the trades get finalized, I don't think they can retain Humphries after the DWill signing...
I was under the impression that if you're over the cap, you can't sign an UFA unless they want to take the mini-mid level or vet min...

And if that's true, I'm not sure how they could trade for Dwight.

I don't exactly know the details but since BK isn't a tax paying team, their salary must be below $74M.
They can still sign their existing players using their bird rights as long as they stay under 74M since they already used their full level MLE...Had they gone over the 74M threshold, they would have been a tax paying team with only the mini-mle available...

The Nets are still pursuing Bucks power forward Ersan Ilyasova, sources tell Y! Milwaukee has pushed to re-sign him.

They aren't over the cap yet. But they've already used their non-tax paying MLE on Mirza Teletovic so they must figure they aren't going to go over the cap. If they trade for Howard however, just him, Deron, Johnson, and Wallace alone are close to that $71 mil threshold and that's without anything else around them. Add in the fact that they have Teletovic signed for around $5 mil per year I believe they should be right at if not above the cap.

Which would beg the question whether or not the Nets would face a penalty for signing a player with their MLE and being over the cap. Assuming they sign Teletovic before trading and eventually signing Howard.

I agree, Kobe is a elite at creating offensive rebounding opportunities for LA bigs, how is that not being team orientated?

According to Jared Rudolph: Dwight is aware of the difficulty of the Nets acquiring him, therefore is looking to go to a team who gives him the best chance of winning and to repair his image...
