Why is Lowry being disrespected by Hou?

Post#1 » by Jazzy13 » Wed Jul 4, 2012 2:12 am

Serious question. He had a great yr and is on a good contract.
But it seems Rockets prefer Dragic and now they offer Lin a deal?

What am I missing?

Well Lin would be a back up to either Dragic or Lowry, if he is signed

Yea the Mchale thing, but cmon this guy is signed for dirt cheap compared to his peers with similar production. I dont believe Goran is a 10 mil per yr player and Lin definitely isnt worth 8 mil to be a backup.

starting 5 is playing great when lowry return from injured
mchale keep the same lineup instead of insert lowry back in the starting lineup
lowry doesn't like it
what comes around goes around
brooks injured lowry took over his starting job
this time lowry injured and dragic took his
instead of trying to play better than dragic he want out
so who's fault?

All fair points but it still doesnt answer the question about why they wouldnt prefer keeping Lowry who:

-is just as good as Lin/Dragic and you dont have to pay 10mil|8mil respectively for them
-is already signed to a very good deal

Houston wants/needs to make some major moves.

Kyle Lowry is our most valuable asset.

If we can do something to help out long-term then this team has to do it. We've been stuck in mediocrity for too long.

if we can do something while keeping Kyle I will be very happy to have Kyle finish his career in Houston.

I comes down to losing Dragic for nothing or resigning Dragic and getting something in return for Lowry

Didnt see it that way, makes sense though. I knew Dragic earned a good contract this yr but didnt think it would be at the current price. I was hoping Utah could offer him around $7-8 per.

Is he worth that much if you guys are considering a rebuild or a major change? Doesnt this diminish Lowrys value a bit?

I would think the option of keeping Lowry and looking into other moves by trading Martin/Scola would be better. Eh I dunno.

You are asking the wrong question. The right question is why is Lowry disrespecting Houston so much by calling out his coach in public. He should be looking at the best interest of the team. He should have worked harder to try to earn his place on the team instead of whining. I mean that is a punk move tbh and any consequences that come from that are on him.

Lowry is only signed for this season and next. You don't think he's going to ask for $10 million per year in 2014?

I think Houston had plans to use Lowry as a trade chip, bringing in Lin who can draw audiences is not a bad idea. Should be interesting where Lowry finally heads to. The Lakers like him and I'd like to see a deal reached that would serve Houston's interests as well.

The only deal involving Lowry and the Lakers that would serve the Rockets' interests would involve Bynum.

ROCKETS send Kyle Lowry, Luis Scola and Kevin Martin to LAKERS
LAKERS send Pau Gasol and Metta World Peace to TIMBERWOLVES
TIMBERWOLVES send Nikova Pekovic, Derrick Williams, Luke Ridnour, Martell Webster and Brad Miller to ROCKETS

Nah...

Also way too good for the Lakers. T-Wolves fans will kill you if they see this. :)

Hm, actually that might not be a bad trade. I definitely like it on our end.

I don't see it on the TWolves end though, either.. unless they underrate Pekovic.
I bet most of them think Williams is the best player leaving them.

I have my doubts the Lakers would pull, either.

You didn't even listen to the possibility of a three-team deal. What do you want for Lowry specifically?

That's a difficult question because it will be very tough to get straight up value for Lowry (if we move him). I think that we've all come to realize that a deal involving Lowry would have to be part of some package.

Here are some "Do Not Wants:"

TPE
Distant Future Picks
Multiple players
Power Forwards

edit - or we may be trying to fill out our roster with power forwards...
