Jazz Fan Trade Proposal

Post#1 » by blackham9258 » Wed Jul 4, 2012 5:39 am

You want to keep your core 4 together of course, but Perkins contract prevents that:

So:

Al Jefferson/ Earl Watson Expiring $17M

Al gives you post scoring you desperately need and Earl is tough as nails with plenty in the tank. You will likely resign him.

for

Perkins/Maynor/Perry Jones and perhaps a 1st rounder

Perkins will need to be traded or amnestied to keep Ibaka and Harden. Maynor will be gone after next year via free agency as he is a luxury you just can't afford, and Perry Jones is for us the reason we take on a 3 year salary of Perk. I like Perk and the toughness he brings but he lost all his lift from his injury and is half the player he used to be.

Thoughts.

You do realise we have a general trade thread right?

This trade would only make sense if we wanted Al Jefferson. But if the premise is to keep "the big 4", then there is no money left for Jefferson when he expires, so what's the point aside from giving Utah value for Jefferson?

Why not just amnesty Perkins, let Maynor walk, and keep PJIII and the 1st rounder, which together add 5 to six more years of 1st round talent to the championship window? This trade proposal sucks. Besides the salaries don't match.

But, I do love Big Al and his old school low post game and IQ. That 10 ft hook shot is ridiculous.

I don't love Big Al and his complete lack of help defense and poor efficiency.

Well, you gotta take the good with the bad. He's slow, so his defense suffers, but IMO he's plenty efficient.
