not sure it moves the needle at all vs heat. nash, jr, melo, amare... chandler can't cover the defensive miscues of 4 guys! and they're losing iman shumpert who is a very good perimeter defender 1 through 3.

They're sending Shumpert in for Nash? Are the Knicks (Please Use More Appropriate Word)?

Re: OffSeason Free Agent Thread...Let's build a DYNASTY!
I dunno. I obviously don't think they are better than the Heat but I think Nash makes Amare at least a little more relevant. He really was invisible last season. Also could be a better setup man for Tyson. I wouldn't necessarily underrate this move so much. Them losing Shump is not even that big of a deal against us IMO, Wade destroyed them more with him IN the lineup.
Also keep in mind they also will have their $3m mini MLE which they can push hard for Camby with. A core of Nash/Lin/JR/Melo/Amare/Tyson/Camby is nothing to sneeze at (OK, well not so much JR lol). And at that point I think they could match up pretty damn well. Maybe that's just me respecting opponents but if they get their sh*t together, which i'd expect to happen more than last season with Nash now captaining the ship, they could be a top 3 team. And are IMO reason enough to keep this team improving. At this point I think either Ray or Camby are critical/can't-miss moves that immediately make us stronger.
Those combined salaries a short time down the road for the Knicks tho...
Should guarantee some entertainment to our benefit, perhaps another PR disaster like amnestying Amare

We cant sleep on the Knicks... if they decide to use the zone on a constant basis they can be a problem. Remember the defensively weak Dallas team? Im not saying they will beat us, but we need to keep getting better.

The Knicks would have to do a lot more than add Steve Nash to usurp the Heat. Any amount of time spent on worrying about Nash propelling the Knicks past the Heat is wasted time.

Our addition of Ray Allen cancels out the Knicks possible addition of Nash

Really guys?? I have find it hard for me to consider myself one of y'all half the damn time... Some you guys are just so friggin hypocritical! During the playoffs when Shumpert went down and all the Knicks fans were complaining that they lost their promising young star sg and answer for D-Wade, most of us were laughing at them (as we should have been). But now all of sudden the Knicks are about to make a deal for Steve Nash (a two-time MVP and one of the most unselfish pgs in the league!) by moving Shumpert and couple other garbs? N now all of a sudden Shumpert is the Don of all Dons and important piece for their franchise that they cant afford to give up for a lowly Steve Nash... It's disgusting.
I can't stand fake behavior. It's ok to admit that another team has made a decent move for their franchise, even if they are a rival. Some of you guys did the same thing with the Brooklyn acquisition of Joe Johnson; those guys have put themselves in a good position to land Dwight Howard and having a really good big 3! And if they don't? So what, they still have put together a decent playoff team that their new fans can route for. Overall it was a good move. But seriously, with all the ish we be getting and how no one outside of Miami ever gives us credit, you'd think we wouldn't display the same behavior. Isn't the Miami Heat organization supposed to be an embodiment of class? Shouldn't we as fans exhibit that same persona? Smh...

I'm not too worried about the knicks. They would lose defense by trading Iman for Nash, their offense would be better, but at the cost of taking the ball out of Melo's hands.

Bottom Line
Bosh/Wade/LeBron/Ray Allen > Melo/Chandler/Amare/Nash
Period...there is no one that will be able to touch us next year. I agree with Riley's strategy of make the free agents take a cut to win a ring. Ray fell in line, and I hope Ray LeBron Wade and Bosh can recruit Camby and convince him to take the minimum...or work out a S&T with Houston.

Come July 11, Jesus Shuttlesworth will be known to the world as Judas "The Betrayer" Shuttlesworth
.
Nash will help the Knicks, but not enough to beat us.
That movie will create more of these threads, though: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1145408

I don't believe it at all. Until Ray Allen comes out and says he is signing with Miami, I don't believe it.
In fact, until Ray Allen signs on the dotted line, I don't believe him. They hate us.
