i would rather see taj, boozer, and noah get atleast 28 minutes every night.
it would be also cool to see deng at the 4 spot and go with a small lineup to put some pressure on at the offensive end.
this years team will be very interesting to watch, b/c thibs will have to make tons of adjustment to muster up every possible points from this team. he will actually have to put some emphasis on putting the ball in the bucket instead of relying on taj, omer(defensive lineup) to get stops and hope drose can score on the other end.

One silver lining is that hopefully we won't hear "the offense will take care of itself" for a good long time.
I agree and I hope Thibs and staff show flex some creativity muscles to get as many efficient shots as possible.

Your best option is creating the flexibility to take on more salary down the road when a team with a disgruntled star wants to clear cap space.
If Minnesota calls in two years and wants to shed a bad contract to go along with Kevin Love, the Bulls will be the perfect landing spot. And that can happen the summer of 2014, as well as the 2014-15 NBA season.
Glad you know what exactly is going to happen in the future

Bulls will never have an offense as good as OKC or Miami, so why downgrade what we are ELITE at?
The point is balance. We should have learned from the 2011 ECF that we cant just out defense/out rebound everybody. We need to be able to score, or I should say someone other than Rose needs to be able to create a shot. We are in a good position to sacrifice some defense for offense. Something like Asik sign and trade for KMART would work nicely in that regard. We might not have as good an offense as MIA or OKC but simply having better balance in terms of talent will give us a better chance. 1 man shows on offense dont win titles.
Letting go of Omer does not mean that the offense is going to get better. It does not get you closer to a 2nd star. All it does is help JR pocket some extra cash and lose a key piece to our defense. If you let go of Omer, who's the savior that's going to cure our offensive problems? O.J. Mayo? Courtney Lee? Will they really have more impact than Asik in the 4th quarter?
Bulls are an ELITE defensive team. The best in the league. Our identity. What I know is that I watched Asik lock down the paint and force LBJ and Wade into jumpshooters in the ECF. Few players in the NBA can do that. Unfortunately, they made a lot of those jumpers. I watched a layup drill in the Finals this year. Where was OKC's defense?

So you're hinging the entire franchise's hopes on Kevin Love wanting out of Minnesota? Let's not waste Rose's entire prime in a holding pattern hoping that players will demand a trade to Chicago. I'm a little tired of hitching our wagons to that plan over the past few years.

Deal, as long as you stop acting like matching the deal is somehow going to hold this team back for the duration of it and keep us out of big moves

Do you have a better plan that nets us an all-star player? I'd like to hear it.

Nothing's happened yet, but if the Nets grab DH, does that factor into anyone's decision on Asik?
"Just gotta stand in front of him," Butler said, as if it were simple.

Thank You, people are acting like matching this deal is somehow going to take us out of the running for a superstar scorer.

You have blown my mind.
Actually it would now that you mention it, it would be points to keep him.
I would pay money to see Miami go small against a Dwight Nets team.

You're going to downgrade it regardless if you match Asik. If you match Asik, the Bulls are going to be at 56-57M the summer that Deng is a free agent, and they'll have a ton of holes to fill that year, meaning Deng will likely be out.
Why pretend that just because the Bulls aren't the absolute #1 defensive team in the league each year, that we still aren't a great defensive team. Is it really killing you to be #2 or #3? All that matters is the Bulls are a great defensive team and will continue to be that without Asik. Stop letting a luxury spoil you.Merk256 wrote:Whats the point of getting worse when we won't have any kind real cap space and a decent FA class to use it on till 2015? Which is when the contract will be up anyway
I hate to tell people this but next years offseason is going to play out much like this one unless the Bulls amnesty Boozer next year which looks like a long shot at best and it won't matter because this deal will still only be costing us 5 mil a year
Tell me what are the advantages of just letting him go? What? Room for a vey crappy 2014 FA class?
I keep mentioning that Kevin Love can potentially demand a trade in the summer of 2014 when his team option is about to come up for the 2015-16 season, but it's swept under the rug. If the Timberwolves still suck, Love is going to demand out and re-up with the team he's dealt to.
So yes, if that situation happens, I don't want to see a $14M backup center hogging up salary. Hell, even regardless I don't want to see us paying $14M to a backup center. At the end of the day cap space and flexibility is very important under this new CBA, and cap management is even more important than before.
and letting a trade asset walk out the door is somehow supposed to help us facilitate that trade? ...You realize you might want to have something they want to make that deal right?

What's the point in getting two more years out of him? If your goal is to trade him, do it now while there's interest and negotiate a sign/trade. He's not getting any better here playing as a backup to Noah, and the Bulls aren't winning anything next season and will be tied up in salaries next year.

Asik
Tommy Udo made this point earlier and apologized if he had been redundant.
For those who missed it, the best contract the Bulls can offer Asik is the maximum Early-Bird exception...4 years at about $25mil. Asik has understandably already rejected this offer since Houston has offered him essentially the same money for 3 years.
The Bulls can either accept the Arenas Provision 5-5-15 for Asik or he goes to Houston. If the Bulls match, they can't trade him until 1/15/13. That's the situation.
Until the actual truth is more important to you than what you believe, you will never recognize the truth.

Thanks. Someone had said, I think this is legal, that it's basically two moves:
1) Bulls agree to not match for Asik
2) Bulls trade Brewer for a signed Lee (Houston can cut or keep Brewer)
So that would be sort of like a sign and trade. Now, this is Houston we are dealing with of course!

Sorry, I forgot Asik was the Bulls only asset. It's the a $14M difference in our payroll for 2014-15. It's a big difference in terms of what you can and can't do under the cap.

That's good knowledge to know then. I'm fine losing him for nothing though. It's the reality of the NBA. A lot of times you can lose a good player for nothing.

Joakim Noah is probably the only player on the roster who can be the centerpiece in a deal for a star offensive player. You might want to keep Asik so that you're not left with Chris Richard as the only center left on your roster if a deal is made.
If the Bulls match Houston's deal, I see zero chance of Asik and Noah both being on the roster still in 2014-15.

yes, cause we can only trade him in the 2014-2015 season. And we know that he definitely won't have any more improvement by then to get his value closer to that figure, hence being "very tradeable"
