Re: Plan B is dead
This was well known to be beyond dead by fans and Mayor Johnson, from the moment "Plan B" left Mayor Johnson's lips. There is a clause in the loan that the Maloofs owe Sacramennto, relieving the Maloofs of paying the loan back if there is a competing arena built.
Dead On Arrival.
Dead On Arrival.

AEG said that should the city get a new franchise or new owners then they would be interested in working with the city.
Sounds like the Maloofs and AEG will no longer do business in the future.

Garbage. Goodbye Kings. Time to find another team to root for I guess. And let's be realistic: we're not getting another NBA team, ever. At least the Maloofs and Petrie have been slowly killing my allegiance to the franchise with acquisitions like Hayes, Outlaw, and Salmons.

Re: Plan B is dead
I really am starting to think the Maloofs will just rot in PBP for the foreseeable future. I haven't heard one rumbling of them being interested in Seattle, and nothing else appears to be an option.
FWIW, my parents recently talked to Lukenbill's father (IIRC) at a recent season ticket holder event. He said that Arco was built to eventually be expanded. Maybe it's not such a ridiculous idea.

Yea, I think a combination of being too broke and pissing off the NBA has their hands tied.

Everything I've heard has been the complete opposite, but I guess Luckenbill's father is as credible as anyone. I'm not sure if it'll happen even if it's possible, since it'll have to be the Maloofs paying for it, as Mayor KJ seems to think it's a waste of time and won't use city resources for it.

There will be no new arena as long as the Maloofs own the Kings. Period. No they won't be remodeling Arco either. The NBA & the others owners will not allow the Kings to move also. They are stuck here collecting millions in profit from the new tv deal. As long as they spend the min amount on players they can still make money.

The team is on a year-to-year lease with Arco Arena.

The team owns Arco Arena...so they will leave whenever Anaheim lets them in

Mayor Kevin Johnson has turned his eye to a new sport, asking his Think Big Sacramento task force to look this summer into marketing Sacramento as a big league baseball town.
