Raise your hand if you thought you were smarter than KOC, but you now realize you're dumb as a rock.
Come on, now. Don't be shy. You know who you are.

Hey, the Nets are only giving up 118 points per 100 possessions with Memo in the game.
That's only 15 points worse than average.
That's only the worst mark in NBA history.

That trade exception and free money sure look good now, don't they? The 2nd rounder is just gravy.
This is why KOC is making 7 figures and we're on a message board.

I was all for the tradw myself. I think a lot of jazz fans were. Personally, i thought the deal was okur for farmar, petro, and houston 1st. But, i at least had one side pf the deal right.
Not bad considering all the possibilitiea oug there.

It was a smart trade...saved us tons of money and gave us more time for Favors and Kanter.

It's sure looking like a good trade to me.

Not bumping this to be a prick, but it shows you the importance of patience.
A broke-down Okur, who would be lucky at this point just to have a roster spot somewhere, for Mo Williams.
KOC did some work.

Re: Sick of giving up our players for nothing
Basically the Jazz made this trade:
Deron Williams
Mehmet Okur
for
Derrick Favors
Enes Kanter
Marvin Williams
Mo Williams
A future first rounder and 3 million in cash.
That's a pretty good haul considering Okur was toast and Deron was a long shot to stick around longer than an extra 80 or so games.

I am happy with the Okur trade now, but be honest, how many of us figured this trade execption would expire without being used

Considering we used a huge trade exception one year earlier to get Al Jefferson, I thought the odds were pretty good we'd use it.
Even if we hadn't used it, it still would have been a great trade. We got out of paying $10 million for hot garbage and kept our front court from being even more congested than it ended up being.

Re: Sick of giving up our players for nothing
This is an example of why Kevin O'Connor is one of the very best GMs in the business. Just getting out from under Memo's last year without carrying his salary was a stroke of genius. The fact that we turned around and filled that exception with an upper tier starting PG was above and beyond.
These are the subtleties of the trade that is lost on most fans, and its the reason why the Jazz are always competitive despite the fact that they have less to work with than most teams, and don't have the luxury of acquiring established stars easily (like the Lakers and other destination franchises), nor have ever had one of those once-in-a-decade type talents that you can build a perennial winner around. These are the moves.
The sad part is that most fans will point to our empty trophy case to discredit the great work done by our FO. They've been spoiled with a consistent winner for 25 years and don't know what its like to be the Clippers, the Bobcats, the Kings or the Warriors.
Great move my KOC. But its just more of the same. He regularly runs circles around the other guys.

Re: Sick of giving up our players for nothing
i think we still have a small portion of the TPE, a bit less than 3million.
If you pack it with Bell.... maybe it's possible to land another player and-or a 2nd round pick

Re: Sick of giving up our players for nothing
I was a bit surprised to read in the newspaper earlier this week, after the Marvin Williams trade, that KOC, when asked if other trades could be expected, said I hope so. For a usually say nothing do nothing GM/organization, this past week has been a welcome surprise so far.
I would assume that at a minimum he is referring to Bell. We can't combine the remaining TPE and Bell, but perhaps as a package as indicated above.
