Maybe it's just me but my expectations kinda went down after seeing this. I was really high on Lillard but he looks really reckless and basically Bayless-esque when driving to the hoop. Often times just hoping for a foul instead of trying to make the shot

That depends how "often" often is. Remember--you're talking about a player that only turned the ball over on 8.9% of his possessions, the least amount in the NCAA. Figure if he were reckless a lot he would dribble balls off his feet, fumble the ball, get called for offensive fouls, have the ball stolen, etc., then it would show up in his turnover rate. His turnover rate being miniscule, however, you have to believe that "often" really isn't that often after all.

There's always a little bias in these sorts of videos. After all, I'm sure if I really wanted to I could put together a video of nothing but Michael Jordan getting bull-in-the-china-shop offensive fouls and travelling calls against him if I wanted to.

Then he should fit in just fine in today's NBA.

After watching basically every of his workout/interview online I'm going to say Lillard will be an allstar in the future. That's my two cents. Only time will tell if I am crazy or not

I have to say I love how this kid takes things. I don't love him as a prospect but he has a lot of drive which is a great thing to have..

I love all the doubt! People don't believe? Back in my natural habitat :-)

Some statistical analysis from draftexpress on the top 25 prospects by position ranks our rookies among the top of their position:

Damian Lillard, on the other hand, looks extremely good in this analysis and ranks exceptionally across the board, finishing second in overall efficiency (1.142 PPP) despite using 21.1 possessions per-game (1st). Getting to the line on 18.7% of his possessions (4th) and scoring 1.176 point per-jump shot (1.176), it makes sense that Big Sky product is given the benefit of the doubt as he looks to make the giant leap in competition to the NBA level.

The most efficient guard in pick and roll (1.039 PP), spot-up (1.388), and isolation off screen situations (1.324), Lillard dominates most categories in this study. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Lillard's showing on paper is the paltry 9.8% turnover rate he posted despite teams game planning to stop him on a nightly basis.

Just an average finisher (1.127 PPP), making plays at the rim in traffic may be Lillard's biggest challenge at the next level, but his ability to score in a variety of ways from the perimeter should be him a valuable asset to whichever team drafts him.

From DraftExpress.com http://www.draftexpress.com#ixzz1zlQqxmNV
http://www.draftexpress.com

-Meyers Leonard ranked as the best post-scorer in this group, at an excellent 1.048 PPP on more than five possessions per game. Leonard crashes the offensive glass least frequently of any player in this group, and doesn't stand out in any other area besides his strong finishing ability (1.417 PPP, 7th best)

From DraftExpress.com http://www.draftexpress.com#ixzz1zlTyJKRP
http://www.draftexpress.com

-Will Barton's 1.049 overall PPP ranked fifth overall, also doing so on the fifth highest number of possessions per game at 16.9. Barton's 1.328 PPS finishing around the basket in the half court was sixth highest among all wings, but that's somewhat misleading as it was barely behind the second-ranked Terrence Ross' 1.389 PPS. Barton's overall free-throw rate of 14.3% also ranked fourth best among wings, speaking to his adjustment into a more attack-oriented player this season.

surprised you are even keeping check on him considering how bad you've trashed the kid before he's even had a chance to play. "vet minimum player" as Stephen A Smith would say "that's disrespectful"

Oden2 - It's not that people are trying to tear into you, it's okay to be skeptical.

What is surprising to us is that you are flat out saying he will be a vet min and wasn't worth picking. It's too early to make that statement, and the evidence thus far doesn't support it.

Could he bust? Totally, anyone can.

It just isn't productive to write a guy off before he's set foot onto an nba court.

Yeah--not nearly as productive as wanting to fire the GM immediately after the draft ;)

Honestly seeing that thread pop up when it did caused me to avoid the forum for days. Everyone says dumb stuff when they are upset, but come on, really?

Lillard announced on facebook that he will be wearing #0. Sweet I want some cheap jerseys incantation hang on the wall for a couple of blazers. Rip city ones prefferably

His reason being he grew up in Oakland played in Ogden and his team is in Oregon.

#0 seems just as dumb/not dumb as any other jersey number.

I like his reasoning for picking it.

Would like to seen him pick #20 like G.Payton and B.Shaw.
Two former PGs from Oaktown, or #2.
