I posted this mostly for our Wisconsinite friends.

At first I didn't like it because it just means more time off for Pettis, but considering the LW title is tied up for like the next 2 years anyway lol, I'd probably be interested to see it.

I could see those two really clashing. Cowboy kind of seems like he has a chip on his shoulder and I don't think Pettis would humor it.

Thanks for posting.

I'm a big fan of both guys, and I'd like to see that fight. Does this mean that Diaz is going to fight Maynard? Or does Diaz get the next title shot and Maynard fights the loser? If Edgar loses, will he move to FW?

I dislike the option from a number of different angles for Pettis.

a) another extended layoff
b) doesn't prove wrestlers aren't his kryptonite like Maynard would
c) Maynard has a better resume than Cerrone
d) he's always been too big of a star for a TUF Finale
e) the Palms have provided his only 2 "losses" in MMA

On the bright side, selecting this option would avoid the worst case scenario for Pettis, which is to be left without a contender because he waited fruitlessly for Diaz too long. Also, I've wanted to see Pettis face Cerrone for years now.

Overall though, I'm rooting for this rumor to not be true because the costs I mentioned outweigh the benefits. I'm not as easy going about the long layoff as RZ. He's already fought far too frequently in UFC. He needs to fight, make money, and shut UFC fans up who think the performance against Guida still means something. If he'd lose on the way to a title shot this time he wouldn't likely have become champion, or at least not held the belt for very long.

I don't think the tuf coaches always fight on the finale though, do they? IIRC its more often NOT the case. Although the ufc may consider Cerrone/Pettis a perfect fx headliner.

I dislike the layoff, but everything else about it would be pretty cool.

Any other details about this season of TUF? Weight classes? TUF Live format, or back to the old format? Start date?

I know that they're ditching the live format.

I would absolutely love them being TUF coaches. And their fight should be amazing, though they are 2 of my top 5 favorite fighters so it will be tough to watch one of them lose.

I only watched 3 episodes before I stopped giving a damn, but I liked the live format. Seemed like a lot more fight/training talk as opposed to dudes hiding their body fluids in eachother's beds/food/etc.

The main barrier to better ratings imo was the Friday night slot. Impossible to tease out the effects of that vs the live format though, of course.

Bah. Don't care for this. I like both of them, but I think TUF has run its course. The young, free agent Zuffa signings are almost always better prospects so I have a hard time taking some of the TUF winners or finalists seriously.

I don't really see the downside of the live format from the viewer's side.

I could see the UFC abandoning it if it wasn't worth the headache, but the worst part about this season was the timeslot, not the format.

Agreed that the top prospects are usually just signed outright, but I'm still usually entertained by the show. Would like to see a 125 lb season as there would probably be some legit talent there.

The downside of the live format was just how amateur hour it was. It was like they were completely unprepared for everything they had to do as far as the structure of the show went and it didn't match how slick the pre-recorded parts were. Plus there was no commentary at all, usually there's mic's on the coaches.

One positive of a live season is that if you don't have cable, you can still watch live via a stream on most sports streaming sites. Can't do that with the pre-taped seasons, gotta wait until the next day. If you're following along, but a day late, you tend to avoid MMA news/websites until you see it. White people problems.
