They should have offered more, definitely. Knowing what we now know about Darvish, based on his play to date, would I trump Texas? Nope. Strikes out more batters than I had expected, but his walk rate is also much higher than I would have anticipated.

Willing to give him a mulligan over the walks with all the media hoopla. His control has been better this past month. Think the assessment is too early and should really be evaluated during his second year.

So we are supposed to go by AA's "tones" now? come on. Do you have a source where he says anything about a much smaller bid?

I think by reading between the lines, AA's message was definitely on the side where the bid wasn't on the high side.

His his last four starts have featured a K/BB ratio of 40 : 9

Safe to say he's turning the corner on control issues.
