Weird, I must have missed the announcement that you had been promoted to Moderator. Stop being a dink and let the people who look after the forum decide what stays open and what gets locked.

Here's a little knowledge for BillyGM, who likes to claim things with no evidence. Well, Marlo did a little research and here's some information on Roddy Beaubois:

But he played shooting guard, right Billy? I guess I should realize that trolls ignore facts though...

How old are you?

You posted legitimate points about Roddy but you put it all to waste when you act like a child like that.

My last post in this thread, this quote will explain why he played PG even though he is a SG:
Sources say Dallas is about ready to move on from the Roddy Beaubois experiment. The Mavericks have thought for years that the talented young Frenchman could be another Tony Parker, but he has not been able to master the move from shooting guard to point guard. Nor has he been able to fill the void left by J.J. Barea. If they don't move him before this year's deadline, he could be gone over the summer.

The guy is signed through next year, and an RFA summer of 2013 if the Mavs don't extend him.

He is a PG. Two years ago he had some remarkable scoring games.

He drives a lot and his shot isn't horrible. As a scoring guard sometimes he forgets to pass but he offers a different dynamic to Jose and Bayless. Needs to learn how to run a team.

But who will be our PGs? Bayless and RB is not good for JV or Ross. Calderon and RB is good but is RB better than Bayless?

RB really is a poor man's Jennings.

I think Jose will be gone after this year at the latest. So acquiring a guy like Roddy could be beneficial in the long run. You allow Roddy and Jerryd to compete for the starting spot, and whoever wins out is your guy for the future (unless someone better comes along of course).

But like Kevin Willis says, DeMar specifically will struggle with shoot first point guards since he doesn't have the perimeter jumper. It would be up to coach Casey to develop ways to allow DeMar to still be effective in an offense where he needs to get his own shot. Maybe up his conditioning regimen and allow him to run off screens like Rip Hamilton in order to take advantage of his lights out mid range game.

I think at PG we're good with Calderon and Bayless. Unless there is someone out there significantly better than either, then we should stand pat. Maybe a young prospect, but then again we have Uzoh there as well.

Why not go for Oden?

Post#373 » by isyed » Thu Jul 5, 2012 5:43 pm

Whats the harm in throwing some money at him and see if he can fight through his injuries? Maybe a 3 year 12 million deal with a team option for the 3rd year?

At worst he gets injured again. If he pans out we might have a solid centre on our hand.

True. BC did trade all our assets for a crippled JO so maybe we'll sign him

We should, he can be JV's backup. Ofcourse no one knows if he is going to last for long and if wheelchair isn't his next step.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

If Oden wants to play in the NBA he needs to do two things. First, go to Germany and get that surgery Kobe got. Second, sign with the Phoenix Suns so their medical staff can care for him.

For a 2yr/8mill deal there are probably 28 or 29 teams that would take him. So, again, we get in a situation where the player would have to choose us over many other options. Not happening.

No, Raps only get Oden if they throw 2/20 on the table or something close to that. He will chase the money given his health.

That would be the ultimate Hail Mary pass from BC to try to save his job.
