many numbers can't be determined until the cap is known.

realgm reports 40 over 5 years but that's it so far
Who or what on RealGM? Is it just a poster, or has it actually been reported in print by RealGM? The reason I ask is that generally RealGM quotes Mike Wells, and he specifically has stated numerous times he has no dollar amount information on the contract.
And otherwise, yeah, sometimes exact numbers aren't known until a cap number is announced (it's staying flat at $58 million), but they can certainly BALLPARK it. I mean, a different cap number isn't going to change the value from $20 to $40 million or vice versa.

cornrows link
From Alex Kennedy's twitter feed. He's the NBA reporter for hoopsworld. Maybe this is jumping the gun and I hope that's the case. I'd like this contract to be lower.
George Hill's five-year deal with the Indiana Pacers is worth $40 million, according to league source.

can't be too much lower as it was reported that he turned down 7 per before the season.

Alex is a good kid who usually has reports pretty well. However, the fact that it hasn't been confirmed by ANY other source or mentioned anywhere else makes me wonder a bit. Sounds like the right number though.

it's in quite a few places. I thought I had seen an article link on RGM but I guess not. Either way, I'd assume it's 40.

Re: George Hill will re-sign
How is 5/40 more than 4/34 for Dragic? I mean, yeah it's another year, but averages out to be half a mil less than Dragic's per year. And I thought the latest report on Lin was that the Rockets offer was going to be around 4/40? I'd rather have Hill at around the same price any day of the week. He's played a large role on playoff teams nearly every year he's been in the league and is a much better defender than either Lin or Dragic. They both had good (or great depending on who you ask) stretches in one season and are still largely unproven.

Lin agreed to a 3 year $19.5 million deal, with a team option on the 4th year for something like $12 million (which is obvious it would be declined).

Re: George Hill will re-sign
Hollinger has an insider only article about all the point guard signings including George Hill.
Dragic's 4/34 deal is more money per year than Hill but a year shorter. Dragic was talking about 10 mil per year so it seems like he took a discount. Lin's deal looks like it's more like 29/4 with the last year a team option which seems like a deal comparatively. I like Hill, but I disagree with Hollinger that Dallas or Houston would have made a big offer for him. Cuban was just quoted as saying its better to miss out on the right player than sign the wrong one. I doubt they'll make big offers to guys like George Hill. Houston let Dragic go at this price and signed Lin for less. Why would they break the bank on Hill? They seem more content to build up trade pieces and tradeable contracts. I like the player, but not the price.
Indiana Pacers: I'm neutral on Hill's deal for Indy, but I love it for San Antonio. This is exactly why the Spurs traded Hill -- they knew they wouldn't be able to meet his price in free agency and instead were able to convert him into Kawhi Leonard, who arguably played just as well.
Indiana's five-year, $40 million commitment for Hill might be on the high side, especially since the threat of Indiana matching was strong enough to likely dissuade most buyers. But in this market, I can understand why the Pacers went for the sure thing and signed up Hill quickly. Could you imagine what Dallas might offer him now? Or Houston?
Hill's deal won't impact the Pacers' cap space as long as he signs after the Pacers' free agents do, so we may not see his one become "official" until later in the summer. But it won't materially impact Indy going forward, at least as long as he plays decently; the Pacers are far from the luxury tax but also are unlikely to have much cap space after this season.

Yea didn't see Lin's deal until now. Still, other than the endorsement money Lin would pull in, I honestly could care less if he was on the roster or not. Great story and a better player than given credit for at times. However, I don't think he would change anything on the Pacers. Give Collison a few more inches in height and there you go (loosely, but you get the idea). Plus he would be bigger than the team itself. That'd be fine if it was Kobe or Lebron.
We know what we have in Hill. Yeah he's not a superstar, but 7-8 mil a year isn't bad in this market. I'd rather play it conservatively and keep Hill than get a hard on for Dragic or Lin based on a couple months of games. Those contracts both are going to sign could either be steals or cap killers (Lin's wil still make whoever money, though).
Sure, 4 years would have been nicer, but as long as Hill doesn't suffer any major injuries, he should be at worst a slightly overpaid starter signed through most of his prime.

Yeah, they're now publicizing the 5/40 numbers as common knowledge.
Not bad at all considering it's similar to Lin and Dragic. I like Hill compared to those 2.
