risk can pay off and not npay off and i believe the max deal can be 5 years so it wouldnt be a decade of setting a team back.

Apples and oranges. Wade and Rose are already on contenders. It's not comparable.

I'm saying if I'm the Magic I'm not as hasty to give him a new 5 year max contract as you are. Especially when Bynum is counted on as the centerpiece and the Magic need to build off of him. I was wanting the Bynum trade at some point. But considering the risk, I don't think it's worth it.

if u had read my first post it said i would Let Bynum play the whole year before i would give him an extension to prove his knee was good. worse case some team signs and trades with us for him.

Oh I read it. It just didn't make sense too. Trade for Bynum and still have the possibility of him walking. Exactly how is that better than keeping Dwight?

Source tells me ‪#Lakers‬ notify player he might be sent to ‪#Magic‬ as part of Bynum-for-Howard deal. Full story: http://www.pepperonsports.com

Oh snaps. It's getting close.

Which is why any LA deal has to include a 3rd team.

I have to agree with this. I wonder if it's Pau. He's the kind of guy Laker brass would be sure to smooth things over with in the event rumors leaked and then the deal fell through - a la last season.

well for starters u have the DIVA dwight who doesnt want to be here and Henny Wants Players who want to be here. Dwights burnt every bridge he had here to try to get to brooklyn. the Locker room would be a horrible place to be. I would rather take a Lil lose if it meant having a drama free team

So you'd rather become the equivalent of last year's Nets, except WITHOUT DERON, than grab the #2 center in the NBA who plenty of experts feel is just scratching the surface of his potential?

One word...
Wow.

So getting Bynum changes everything? it doesn't....it's not a quick fix...we get Bynum we're still what 3 years away from contending? Bynum alone does not makes a contender.....why would we deal Dwight for Bynum straight up? that makes no sense whatsoever....Either way the lakers aren't going to do anything before Dwight comes out and says that he would resign with them.....if Dwight keeps his mouth shut and his camp keeps saying Brooklyn then we aren't trading to the Lakers for sure.....Lakers would be stupid to trade for Dwight without some kind of assurance that he would resign.....

That's two separate arguments.

If the Lakers didn't exist... I would rather let Dwight walk than take that horrible deal from New Jersey.
Here's a game for you... Say you could PICK ANY !5 PLAYERS IN THE NBA to make up the new roster for the Magic. But you couldn't pick the top 3 players on any team. So essentially, you're eliminating 90 of the top players in the NBA.

Now pick any 15 players from the rest. Would any of them be Lopez, Humphries, or Brooks?
If you were being honest... No.
Why trade a top 3 player in the NBA, when you're not getting back a top 75 talent in return?

i did say that it was my personal preference.......me i rather have a complete team where we don't have a weak link at any position from PG to C.....instead of just one guy....but hey i guess we'll see won't we....i believe Rob will do what's in the team's best interest.....

Some of you have no clue how good Bynum is. It's unreal.

No superstar will play here unless you have a superstar already here. Look at the NBA. The en vogue thing to do is join forces and create "Big three's". If the Magic land Bynum, then other superstars will consider playing here. If not... welcome to Mediocrityville for the next 5+ years.

Very well said. Bynum is a championship caliber center. He's a player you can build around.

He's also a player that can set your team back a decade.

You could argue the same thing about DRose. Key player, superstar, counted on to lead the team for a decade, and now at risk of never playing at that level again.

It's part of life in pro sports. You can never be sure about injuries. The fact that he played a full season - in a compressed season that took a toll on many players - certainly should make us more comfortable.

not really, it's just the same source directing people to the article on their twitter, no?
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

Honestly... about the same amount of time it would take to build a true contender around Dwight. We all wish we knew the true answer to that. But at least we'd be starting with one of the best pieces we could possibly have in a situation like this.

Exactly. You wouldn't really miss a beat. We're going to struggle next year whether we have D12 or Bynum. The plan is to re-up in 2013 and I think Bynum has the potential to compete with Dwight for the NBA best big man in a year or 2. Given that, we should take the same approach as if we had D12. Clear cap for 2013 and sign studs.

Agreed. This is the move that gives us the best chance to reload quickly rather than a sever dive for a few years while trying to build around picks.

well if the kings want anderson i wonder if we could talk them into taking Jrich and Duhon for Evans?

who cares that we have BBD. hes fine here. likes to play basketball and i wouldnt have a problem with him staying. Hedo can stay cuz no ones gonna trade for him anyway.

J-Rich is a guy that can be moved imo.
I like BBD next to Bynum. A lot of championship experience between them.
Hedo will be a moved at the deadline because his contract is nonguaranteed in 2013.
Duhon also has a nonguaranteed deal in 2013.

Those players will kill us next year. But we should be free of them or at least some by 2013.

it would be pretty funny that if this trade goes down while rudolph is on nba tv saying how howard and the nets is almost a done deal.

I'm addicted to it to. Just the fact that you can build whatever you want. It reminds me of when I used to play with Legos like 15 years ago.

same, pains me to watch, but we're going to have to endure a bad year next year anyway. If we're going to suck, we should suck hard for a high draft pick. If they're still here by 2013-2014, then we got a problem.
