trade him to the bulls for Richard Hamilton and we save some moneyMoMM wrote:mattyBoi wrote:TDJacksonville wrote:Jrich got a player option for 2014.

Do you really think he would opt out? He would have NO chance to make anything close to that on the market.
Exactly, player option or guaranteed money is the same, he will pick the option anyway.

I'd be very surprised if we deal Jameer at this point.

would you guys do rights of fran for wesley johnson straight up?
wes johnson is not gonna be a star at all and will be a fringe starter his whole career but he would provide some much needed athleticism on the wing
and fran would sign in the NBA to play with rubio i think (especially if they acquire pau gasol with the williams+pekovic package)
Anything for Fran.

Well, I can truly say that the Magic soon will have closed the door on ever contending for a NBA title.

If I were Rob I would make a hard pitch to get Brand here. He is the exact PF Howard needs next to him. And Brand playing along next to Howard could give him a few more yrs in the league... Than sign and trade Anderson to Sac Town for a player or two. Trade Earl Clark for a future pick.
Big man rotation of Howard BBD and Brand while teaching our rookies would be great.

So you really believe Dwight's ever gonna wear a Magic uniform again?

That's your team in 2013 at 51 million plus cap holds. Only 7 players signed.
If Lakers are the team we are dealing with they have no way to take back any salary like JRich or Hedo. They might take back Duhon.
Lets say we can't return Gasol but instead return Bynum|MWP|McRoberts for Howard|Hedo, and MWP agrees to retire.
We then need to trade Baby and JRich for expirings, but in doing so, while still keeping Anderson for as much as $13M/yr, we'd still have over $15M in cap space to go after Iggy or Ellis or Harden or Evans, and so on. Let Anderson walk and we have way over the max for multiple FA's. Trading Hedo with Howard and then finding expiring contracts for JRich and Baby and we are a FA force in summer '13.
Even if MWP retires, we would still be on the hook for the money and against our cap so that would not solve anything.

Pause. If what you say is correct (it isn't) than a player could sign a contract, retire, and get paid for that contract while sipping martini's in Bermuda with Merlin.

It took 13 years just get back to the finals. The rebuilding process is looooooonnnnnnnnnng. It is not the quick 2-3 year turnaround everyone believes it to be. Back to the good ole draft discussions every summer and overrating our young players.
It's all apart of the ebb and flow of a mid-market team. All in all, I think we've done fairly well for that.
It is all part of the Stern's NBA master plan to maximize mad profits by bringing Dwight to LA.
Dwight Howard gonna prove y'all wrong!!!!!

I guess we aren't even considering Rakovic coming over. I want a guy who will break people in half, run them over, lay them on the ground and spit on their face.

if mwp retires there is still a cap hold for his contract, it doesn't instantly disappear, mwp would have to agree to a buyout of some sorts to get majority money
rasheed wallace still counted towards the celtics cap when he retired, it affected the celtics free agency

He was one of those calm on the surface. But inside he had this inner turmoil. His spirit will be missed.
So, the NBA is rigged? If that's true somebody needs to tell Devos so he can get out of this money pit.
