DD: Uptown, I'll leave the pic and your post in tact, since the pic is benign. But, this is a fairly obvious attempt to irk the Celtic fans contributing to this discussion. Next "non-conversational" post on here will garner you a warning.

Like I said I'm not going to play the sources game with anyone. If I'm wrong about this you guys can ban me from real gm for all care. I'm just saying Ray Allen will be a Celtics. He left Miami without a contract. He is going to sign a contract with Boston. I'm not sure if it will be announce later on today but it might.

Ray Allen and his family loves it in Boston and they don't want to go. Ray took these trip solo. Any man with a family would have taken his wife with him if he really wanted to go. They didn't want to go but Ray needed to get some type of leverage so he can be sure that he will finish his career as a Celtics.

Wow Celtics/Heat trade. Norris Cole to Celts? That may help them more than losing Ray.

My thoughts exactly. This is Ray telling Celtics fans that he's just messing up with LeBron's mind and that he's wearing his allegiance on his sleeve.

Why don't the mods just lock completely unverified rumors like these? Anyone can have an "inside source", you should have to back it up, at least privately to the mods, otherwise anyone can just come on and troll. Stuff like this not getting shot down really hurts the reputability of the board imo.

And I realize this is a more likely candidate of a post for getting moderated for 'backseat moderating'.

Not quite...not trolling either but it's interesting how people on both sides of the fence believe sources without links, fascinating.

Good luck to you guys but me thinks you've been had by this "source" :-)

ddb wrote:right. people I know from within the NBA circles have been saying Ainge was either keeping band together and pulling Spurs model of depth....or going BIG and acquiring Josh Smith.

This has been the news for months. Ainge pretty much had 2 options and decided his safest bet to remain successful and potentially win another banner was to keep core together and max out the complimentary pieces.

Just gotta hope it's enough to beat the Heat. as of right now it looks like Boston is the team to beat in the East.

Rondo, Bradley, Pierce, Bass, KG, Terry, Ray, Green, Sully, Steamer?, Melo, JJJ, Moore, etc is just WAY TOO much firepower.

Unless, of course the refs fix it again

I certainly wouldn't rule out a significant trade this year by any means. Ainge just gauged market value on all team assets and has created an environment where they can build up value. ATL's ability to move Johnson altered the trade landscape, but I wouldn't be shocked if he is moved at some point before the deadline.

The Dwight Howard saga must end before anyone is going to make ancillary moves of substance - guys like Pau and Smith are in stasis until the requisite asset base is established - Dwight is **** up everyone's large scale strategy, so youre seeing a wholesale shift around the league where teams are establishing their asset base and salary floor requirements.

There will be quite a bit of trade action this year if you ask me - the "salary cap space" angle has played itself out strategically in favor of the "asset allocation" model - at least when it comes to established stars. Teams just have too much to lose by letting players go without compensation. Post-LeBron, I see teams "growing" assets so they have chips to play when circumstances present themselves.

Going "full tank" is going to be difficult with a 90% salary floor and the need to project a desirable team atmosphere for recruiting players.
