Jason Kidd, in his first interview as a member of the Knicks, told WFAN that as of a week ago, Deron Williams had decided to join the Mavericks, but that the Nets' moves early this week, particularly the trade for Joe Johnson on Tuesday, turned him around and got him "excited" about playing in Brooklyn.

I'm sure the extra year worth $25 million had a big part in it as well.

I will say, I don't know if you guys remember, but I used to be a big Joe Johnson homer.

I was secretly intrigued when the talks for him began, although I'm still a little upset we didn't receive a first round pick back in the deal, let alone giving one no matter how unlikely that pick ever conveys, at least before 2015.

Joe became waaaaaaay to iso orientated after a few years in Atlanta though.

Obviously a lot of that was out of necessity due to the ways they built their lineups and poor coaching, but I hope it isn't so ingrained in him now that's it's impossible to break.

I keep telling people that players see other players first.

They don't care about fit and other crap that we overanalyze.

Both being ball-dominant wings didn't stop LBJ and Wade coming together.

Amare and Melo excel in two different systems (fast paced PnR and half-court ISO respectively) and yet that didn't stop Melo from wanting to go to NYK and Amare from courting.

D-Will saw JJ and said that's a 5-time Allstar SG, not the statistical deficiencies that people bring up.

Joe tried to get his team mates going for years but he never really had anyone that could create their own offense. so when he has the ball he sees constant double and sometimes triple teams. so he passes the ball just to have it passed right back to him. so what is Joe to do? he will not have this problem with D-will as a running mate.

Is Johnson not allowed to say anything about the trade until the 11th? It's a bit strange that we've heard absolutely nothing from him.

I'm pretty sure that's the case. He's not officially a Net until the S&T for DeShawn Stevenson goes through.

The Nets have three All-Stars now, three guys who should be All-Defensive perennials, three guys with exceptional versatility to their games.

Third? I'm not even sure who the 2nd one is, and even the 1st is no guarantee.
