LaRon Dendy is one name.

You would think the Wizards beat writer would try to get a handle on the names for invites to minicamp next week, right? I like Lee's analysis, but he is terrible in terms of breaking news on the roster, coaches, or FO. He finds out about trades and player movement when we do. The coverage of this team by the Wa Post is just not up to par.

Know-it-all? Sounds like he would fit right in on this message board.

Laron Dendy? Steven Gray? Why?

Why not Drew Gordon? Undrafted w/ numbers very like those of Thomas Robinson (.58 TS% vs. TRob's .56; 14.4 board/40 minutes vs. TRob's 14.9). Not suggesting he's an equivalent -- but he has a chance in the league. Or even Jamychal Green.

Nobody's going to come here if they're actually trying to make a roster. Grunfeld has made it quite clear Wizards are not interested in any more young players. We want vets only.

I think that disaster of the 1st half of last season really got to Ernie. The team admittedly was a complete embarrassment on the court prior to the Flip firing and Nene trade.

Playing for us in SL showcases a guy in front of the whole league. That said, I agree w/ you. We don't even have the roster spot, assuming we're going to sign JSing. and Martin. If we don't sign James Singleton... but I think we will.

We need to at least sign an undrafted FA. There's a good group of undrafted players this yr. Why not try to find a diamond in the rough?

I guess if we aren't going to be able to afford a Courtney Lee or a decent backup point guard (JLIII?), why not go after a decent undrafted rookie FA? These guys have no chance unless they absolutely knock their socks off ala Gary Neal. The Spurs wind up with players like that who were never given an opportunity and flourished overseas. We get Cartier Martin, who has been cut about 10 times.

Even if one of these guys play well, he has no chance at making this roster. This is a team that just drafted a guy to stash him in Europe for the next two years (more like the rest of his career, but whatever), so the chances of them signing a guy off the SL team is pretty much slim to none.

Well it looks like our joke of a GM thinks our roster is set and isn't looking for cheap ways to find upgrades. That's how you're supposed to run a team.

So....Emperor Ernie brings in old retreads (Randolph, Tille and Calloway) instead of some undrafted rookies?

Why am I not surprised?

As little value as the Summer League generally has, Ernie has managed to minimalize even that and turn a little value into nothing.

Be careful, Ruzious. The Ernie Grunfeld fanclub will accuse you of overrating summer league as they accused people of overrating 2nd rounders, cap space, and whatever other area that makes Ernie look like a functioning idiot.

Is the Ernie Fan Club any worse than the Ernie Haters? Don't both sides kinda overreact to everything Ernie says or does?

Damn, Ernie even gets heat for how he constructs a damn Summer League Roster.
