Kemba really is a SG who we drafted to be a point guard, the pick was made so now it's the front offices job to teach and groom Kemba how to be a NBA caliber PG. Whether he lives up to the hype remains to be seen however.
When you draft in the lottery and you have these type of questions, like "Is he a point guard or a SG" or, " Will his lack of size hurt him in the next level?" those are serious red flags imo, but we drafted Kemba knowing their were these questions so it' up to Mike and Cho and co. to make sure Kemba is prepared and ready when the season starts to play the point guard position.

It does if you have the drive the follow thru and the skill to pull it off. Kemba has the drive and the athletic ability. Now he just needs to put it all together and learn the position. If he is taught I think he will be fine.

I could take all of my money to the casino and play black jack all night with drive - doesn't mean I am going to walk out the next day a billionaire .

Learning isn't a gamble. And athletic ability provides players with an advantages over other players (unlike in blackjack where the odds are even before the cards are dealt).

Why are basically all of our realgm fans pessimists now??

It really would be hard to be as bad as last season and the only way is up.

Oh noes we probably didn't get a superstar at pick 9...LMAO

probably just a hangover from the worst season ever SI.

Things will pick up as the team improves. We're all just waiting for somebody to shine so we can put our faith in them, probably why we're all a little hard on Kemba at times.

I always appreciate your positive view though :)

Thanks Sach

The negativity is starting to wear though, now more than ever we need to throw our support behind this team.

I agree we are waiting for someone to shine but why write off MKG(as an example) before he even suits up for us when he is the most likely candidate(to be our"guy")

I know considering how NBA ready Kemba was perceived to be we may be hard on him but the guy brings it every night and is committed to getting better(even if he never does)

People need to remember that we are all on the same team and noone can consider us bandwagoners since we have been mediocre since our inception, the least we could do is support eachother.

We weren't knocking Kemba just saying that he wasn't a natural PG with PG skills, yes he can definitely learn the job, it will take time and it wont be easy for him but it can be done. If you remember in his draft, he was selling himself as a being a natural point guard even though he blew up nationally because he was a scorer, same thing with Derrick Williams who the Wolves picked 2nd, he's a guy too small to play PF so he tried to sell himself on being a SF. The Wolves are trying to trade Wiliams now.

I remember Kemba didn't even participate in the PG drills in the draft combine and I knew exactly why he didn't. It was to protect him from being exposed as lacking the skills and height and having his stock drop, smart move. But he's drafted to be the point guard, so Jordan has to do everything in his power to groom the guy properly, remember, players like Kidd, Nash, Rose, Jennings, and others have been point guards their whole lives since AAU, and the camps they've attented, Kemba is trying to learn on the fly what these guys have known for years.

This is the draft combine interview where Kemba says he didn't workout with the other point guards but is still a pure PG after being asked about being a high volume scorer in college and the transition from a scorer to a point guard. The analysts speak on his transition also.

I disagree that Kemba was drafted to be he pg. he was drafted with the expectations that he'd cover some guard responsibilities and the hopes that maybe he'd develop into something more than he was at the time. I've been at the beach and it's tedious trying to post on an iPad, but I think Dragic would've been a good move because it wouldve allowed Kemba to play either guard spot without being a defensive liability due to his stature and could play to his current strengths while other skills develop. Top 10 starting pg one day would be great, but I think dynamic combo guard off the bench is still a more realistic expectation.

I am not saying he was coming in as a natural pg. what I am saying is he can learn. He has the speed and quickness to be quite effective. All he needs is a little work to become a better pg. he may alway slant more on the side of a scoring point but he showed flashes of creativity for others last season.

Also to the blackjack response. One this is not gambling and two if you can count cards and have a helper you could get rich quick. Assuming you have the skills to pull it off and not get caught.

If you could hand pick a current PG to mentor Kemba, a PG that is successful playing the same sort of game type as Kemba, who would it be?

MJ and Zeke should squash their 20+ year old beef and Zeke should come on the coaching staff to mentor Kemba to be his heir apparent 8-)

What i'm saying is aslong as he works towards it he can become a better PG. he has all of the natural ability, he just needs to develop the skills. Rose & Westbrook are two examples of SG's in PG's bodies that can be very effective at the PG position.
