Yanks (49-32) @ boSox (42-40): Can we close?

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Thu Jul 5, 2012 8:27 am

Once again, Yanks found a reason not to take 2/3 in Tropicana. Now face the Sawx. 4 game set, before the All-Star game. Finish strong boys!

Yanks take the lead on Mark to the Text triple! plus another tac on. 10-7 Yanks. Gonna be interesting to see how Joe G. handles 7 and 8th.

Russell Martin...I'm not sure if I should be angry or feel sorry for him.

Solid 7th though. Hopefully, the Yanks hold this lead.

Nice! Robertson and Soriano's 4 out nails the win...but might remove their use in the double header tomorrow.

Soriano sure does suck. All Star closer pitching like Mo.

And how many 4 out innings has Soriano pitched vs Mo who set himself up habitually?

Just silliness...cause Mo is going to the HOF, Soriano is going to opt out and try and r@pe some team for MORE money.

And don't forget, can't use Soriano back to back which was what hurt them against the Rays. Again, Soriano hasn't done 4 outs since 2007....

Yea, compare half a season to Mo...rubbish.

Told you before and tell ya again, every team has not missed this guy. He's that much of a class jerk.

As a Yankee fan, I cannot wait until the day for David Ortiz to retire.

Hey if that's what Joe has to do, in order to send a message to GM Cash Money...so be it.

Yanks do NOT have the durable Nelson, Stanton, Mendoza, Mo pen that Torre had. In the 10-9 stinker, Girardi was forced to empty his pen. Got the win, but knew that either Garcia and/or Hughes was going to have to give them length.

I'll take the split. Hughes' legendary road record seems a little tarnished but of little consolation because so far, behind Sabbathia got more #3s and #5s and that makes me wonder who the Yanks are going to bring in with their plan to reduce payroll?

God damn Nova Sucks. Send him back down to the minors to get more seasoning. His era is almost 5

Aaaaaaaaawww...how CUTE as a button, lil' Chrissie is trying to get a rise out of me. Little kids aren't a trouble to men. Who's your NEXT whipping boy in the pen?

Never said he sucks. Just don't believe he's any better than a #5, 4 at best....and like Hughes, padded his stats against crappy teams after an abysmal start.

Freddy Garcia put up similar numbers against the Sawx...does THAT make him a #2? He's pretty much the only pitcher who had a worse start than Nova...does that mean HE is an ace as well?

Andruw Jones is killing the Sawx: 4 HRs, 5RBIs. Does THAT mean, he's better than Tex or A-Rod? Hardly...but according to YOUR logic, Chrissie...he is.

And Jeter has killed the Sawx after coming in under .300 in a slump, should we give HIM kudos? No. I don't believe so despite being a Jeter fan.

Let's face facts, the Red Sawx are NOT a threat to the Yanks this season. Tampa, Chicago, and Texas...can we beat THEM in October?

Do YOU feel comfortable with the team as is going up against their best? Tough call.

Robertson suddenly just doesn't feel comfortable out there in the 8th. What gives?

Nova is a stat padder?

hold on

Guy is 10-3 on the season and could easily be 12-2 if it weren't for Clueless Joe.

Nova has beaten the Angels 2 times, Sox 2 times, Rays 2 times, Orioles, Braves, A's and Nationals.

As of today, every team that he has beaten is .500 and better. Where is the stat padding?

So, IF Nova is a 4 of 5 (he seems solid 4th starter to me or more, but that's another point), why do you seem so disappointed in him?

He made the majors
He's stayed relatively healthy (so far)
Doesn't seem bothered by bright lights, big city (or any other Jimmy Reed song)
Seems to have either have an ability to pitch to the score, had an incredible 2 year run of luck or is maybe better than the Dr. thinks....but if it's pitch to the score, that pretty mature for a young pitcher.

What's wrong with this?

I'd about kill for Betances or Buenalos turn out this "bad". For that matter, it'd be nice for some of the other Yankee pitching "prospects" to turn up as effective borderline 3\4's or 5's.

Which means they'd only need a real #2 behind Sabathia moving forward for a few years.

Sure I'd love for the organization to produce a real #1 or #2, but doesn't seem to be happening for a couple more years.
