Re: Ray joins the Heat/Ray Allen appreciation thread
THIS is why genuine basketball fans hated the LeBron "Decision" fiasco.
It opened the floodgates for players bitching out and trying to take the easiest road to a ring. It started with LeBron and Bosh, followed with role players, and now everybody feels comfortable turning heel just like a **** WWE wrestler. Nash, now Ray. Two players from a different era (or so we thought) who'd never sell out like this. Yep, they sold out like this.
Ray was one of my top 5 favorite NBA players of all time. **** that now. He and Nash might as well have a scarlet RC for ring chaser on their new jerseys. For as long as bball history is recorded, those two will be remembered as great players who sold out their own self respect, legacy and teams for 30 pieces of silver.
And Ray actually thinks we're not going to take this very hard? **** that. Who DOES THIS? Where the **** is the integrity and pride?
Hey Ray, you want to know what a real man looks like in the NBA? KG. Paul Pierce. Even freaking Kobe has more sense than to squander his legacy like this. Wonder what they're thinking tonight.

One of the bigger b%#ch moves by a high profile Boston athlete. The day for forgiveness will come but it will be no time soon.

Maybe I am missing something, but I don't consider Ray and all-time great Celtic. He spent 5 years here. He's more UConn and Connecticut than Celtics IMO.
I don't care about legacy or anything. I care about winning. This one hurts, because it hurts us winning. But, if we traded him to Memphis and then he signed with the Heat, would that be the same legacy stainer?
At 37, he can do what he wants. I am more pissed off at the roster hole, but, it does open up a starting SG slot.
Bradley is the starting SG - if he misses the first month of the season or is ready by training camp. This does give the team the option of pushing Pierce down to the SG spot situationally, which will increase Green's minutes.
That's what I was thinking too, but I don't like it. They need a more classic SG IMO. Bradley is a terrific defender, and flashed some potential, but that's big risk with a veteran team to rely on a third year combo guard who showed improvement, but still isn't there yet.
This team needs scoring and shooting, not sure Bradley can provide it at enough volume yet. Maybe he can, I like Bradley. But, he's out anyway and that's a major problem.

But when we all look back on the great Celtics of this era, Pierce and KG will be on that list, and Allen will just be part of the supporting cast, a player who was a player on the Celtics but was not a Celtic. It stings a little, but such is life. I'm still excited about this season and feel that the Jason Terry signing gives us a really solid guard rotation as long as we can bring back Dooling and Avery Bradley gets healthy.
Yeah, #20's going back into the recycle bin, while 5 and 34 will be in the rosters.
Unfortunately this destroys our reload scheme. Unless Sullinger and Green become all-stars, we're finished until we have cap room in 2015. Otherwise we'll look like idiots with KG and Pierce in wheelchairs while we trot out the 2008 Maverick's bench to the tune of 11 mil.

I warned you not to listen to vinbaker6...but everyone called me a troll when he in reality was the troll
I think the way they handled the Ray thing was pathetic with trying to trade him then wanting him back (I also said that and apparently it was posted here)
However, the way this team battled for the last 5 years...you guys should be proud. 2009 if KG doesn't go down you win the title, and the Celtics were jobbed in 2010 by David Stern and Joey Crawford. So I guess this is an apology for any hard feelings...
Ray is joining us, but don't boo him after he gave you blood sweat and tears for 5 years...I'm sure it was a difficult decision for him. But that's all...no follow up posts from me just thought I'd clear the air and mend some fences...
In all sincere fashion good luck next year, I didn't think I'd actually be moved by this thread but I was
Congrats on being right about Vin Baker. Anybody with a hint of common sense knew he was a troll. His Vin Baker name was a dead giveaway.
Also we can boo him if we want. It is easy to be a good sport when your team is coming off a title and adds yet another solid piece . I guarantee you would be singing a different tune if say the heat lost to the celtics and Wade or Lebron signed here six weeks later.

Will somebody with a Celtics Ray Allen jersey please burn it and put it on this site?
I would, but I never bought a Ray Allen jersey... I knew there was a reason I picked KG, Paul, and Rondo instead.

Can we just spot warn/lock topics by people spreading rumors without unverified sources? The forums look like absolute trash because stuff like that keeps happening and isn't put in check.

But according to a league source, Allen’s request from the Celtics went beyond the pale - reportedly a demand for a three-year, $27 million contract. The Celtics, according to the source, were in the process of attempting to talk Allen down from $9 million to $6 million per year.
Come on Ray, 3yr/27mil? Get outta here with that delusional mind frame. Good riddance.

Re: Ray joins the Heat/Ray Allen appreciation thread
It's going to be so sad:
1) Not being able to watch four offensive players (shooter, passer, two pickers) tied up trying to get one person a shot
and
2) Counting Ray's dribbles, and knowing when you get to three a turnover is bound to happen
Now the team can't come back the same way, leaking oil at the finish line......time for "forced" retooling, albeit minor.

Screw Ray Allen. Ray Allen is a sellout and ring chaser.

And on the subject of Ray signing the Heat, going to ignore the hate here. Good for him, his reasons for leaving the Celtics are legit, thankful for what he gave us, wish him well, but his team hell.

I say we send all our jerseys to one location and burn them all together so ray knows exactly how true celtics unlike himself feel about it!
