I hope the heat trade him to the raptors before the deadline.

Won't happen (and rightfully so). Doc and Danny have too much class for that.

I know it's unlikely. But I can hope. Ray didn't show us too much class by leaving the way he did to go to the HEAT of all teams. I know he has been a classy guy while playing here, but what he did erases that.

He exercised his right as a free agent. End of story.

I am saying that. Why is it that he asks the celtics for 27 million yet signs with the heat for 9? Allen had no desire to come back here. He purposely made his asking price so high because he knew the celtics could not afford to pay him.

I don't think it was a secret that Allen wanted the Heat. That's why the Celtics bid so much for him, knowing they would have to overpay to get him to stay. He didn't make his asking price, that just how much the Celtics offered.

Right now it looks bad, but in a year you may be thanking Allen for taking up 6 million of the Heat's cap instead of 12 million of yours.

Allen is only slated to make 3m a year for 3 years. Celtics offer was 12 million for two. Or at least that is what I read. Here is what gets me about the cap: Their are so many exceptions in the CBA the heat seem to always be able to sign anybody they want.

This makes the celtics weaker, they have no SG, lose out the ability to sign someone else and make the most hated team in the NBA stronger.

Rationalizing. Ray scored 14.2 ppg on 45 percent shooting from 3 point range. That is an incredible shooting performance.

Add in the fact that we can't go acquire any kind of talent, much less a good player, and Allen's leaving severely depletes our roster.

Let's no underestimate what this does to our team. We have no SG right now. Terry is a bench player, and Bradley is a hurt combo-guard.

UGh. Starting to sink in.

post his numbers from the playoffs. No wait, i will.

10.7ppg on 30.4% from 3. Had the surgery, at 37, not sure he'll ever be the same.

I'm not as mad at losing that, as i am missing out on the chance for a clutch 3 from time to time for nothing.

it's the same as james. I'm not even mad that he left, it's how he did it. YOu go to the 1 team u just lost game 7 too in conference finals for less then half the money.....

If we offered 6m, and he got 5. ok, but that's just and FU to boston, So FU right back. Cant wait for KG to level him coming around a screen.

Darth, he was hurt. You know that, and I am skeptical of that playoff performance because of that. Obviously, the Celtics felt that his injury caused the poor play or they wouldn't have offered him a deal.

You may be right on his ankles, that's a risk, and I would have hated to have to rely on a hurt player. Perhaps he will never be the same, and that's something that is plausible considering his age.

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise.

But, the truth of the matter is Ray is going to be ready for the season, and our SG isn't. JET is a terrific signing, but, we needed him and Ray in tandem, but now we don't have that.

I just think we are weak at the 2-guard. No classic SG size and a lack of shooting on the team. Ray vs. JET might be even (JET is more versatile at this age and better longterm option). But, the plan was to have both.

We need scoring, JET in and Ray out is just an even swap.

So you think Ray's number will be retired? No chance of that happening...

so what's stopping anyone from wearing #20 next season...?

1. Yes I do.
2. The fact that Doc and Danny have too much class to allow someone to disrespect Ray.

Why in the hell would they retire Ray Allen's number?

Probably not. The reports coming out now is about how angry he was at getting the call that he was traded to Memphis then untraded. This move was giving the middle finger to management IMO.

Too bad that deal fell through.

Hopefully, Danny learns he has to get the job done.

It's not losing him that hurts much. If Bradley gets healthy early enough the backcourt will be fine. It's that he went to the Heat. He's actually a pretty good fit there and it will hurt us. Plenty of wide open opportunities and he won't have to work as hard to get shots. He could have gone anywhere else and it would have been fine.

Because he was the 3rd best player on a championship team. That can't be said for a lot of the retired numbers in Boston. My guess is that they'll have a ceremony for the Big 3 where they retire all of their numbers.

I mostly sympathize with your position. I don't really see any need to be mad at Ray, and as far as I'm concerned, it's just business. But keep in mind that while Ray had, yes, a right to leave, a right which he exercised, it was his choice to exercise that right. You can't fault a fan of a team for deciding to stop cheering for a player after he chooses to leave the team.

Thank you Ray Allen for everything you have done for us. Thank you for helping bring back another title in 08'. Thank you for all the memories. But unfortunately everything comes to an end.

That being said...
You can take all your talents to south beach and keep them there. We were/are in a new and better direction without you. Like many, I will *try* to continue to support your individual accolades but not your new team's success.

Man, this week blows. I feel like I had two break-ups. One with my girlfriend and now another with Ray lol. :(

The real bottom line is Ainge toyed around with idiotic trade ideas (Allen for Mayo, a la Bird for Chuck Person or McHale for Sam Perkins) and Ray was rightfully insulted. And now we're stuck with the exact mediocrity Ainge wanted to avoid.

I didn't though. I'm just saying it's in no way "classless" to decide you want to play somewhere else.

To be fair to Ray management set him up and this was probably set in stone long ago I am trying not to overeact we just signed a very similar player way more suited to his current job and turned around and said we are still offering you 6 mil while we give KG, Bass, Green all way more than that.

But any other team Ray and not for .50 on the dollar your a Heat whore now.

Doesn't mean we don't have a right to be pissed.

Sup guys. Always liked Allen, but I just lost a ton of respect for him. I see a lot of you also feel the same way, understandably. This is a bitch move. You just don't join the team you battled in the playoffs for however many years in a row, and the team that has knocked you out 2 years in a row. I thought Ray was above this stuff.
