I'd rather have Jonas playing in Summer League and getting some coaching from our staff than riding the bench for Lithuania.

I'd rather have him face his foul trouble issues, and get the greatest experience and honour an athlete can have for his country, than play in a pickup-quality summer basketball league.

He's peaked. Let's amnesty him now while his value is still high.

If Bargnani can adjust to the physicality of the NBA, I have little doubt that Jonas will have much difficulty.

Next year, you've got to think that Casey will bring Jonas off the bench so he can play his high-energy game. His fouls will have to be managed though because, with his ability to finish from the field and the line, he should be an asset down the stretch, even as a rook.

Valanciunas will have hard few months in the begining of the season, it is very likely, like he had last year, but I believe he will fit in very quickly and he will put decent numbers in late season.
btw, I haven't seen him playing well for a long time now..:)

Aside of a few random trolls or guys trying to sound smart-o-sarcastic calling Jonas a bust is hilarious. The guy has been playing non stop for 3 (where he won all possible trophies in his age group coupled with MVP awared in every competition he was) years and also working with weights daily and finally had a few underwhelming games and everyone is panicking.

1st of all (aside of him being overworked) he had some woman ball league reffing, 2nd in LTU team which is under mega pressure to qualify (since Liethuania is trying to qualify to 6th consicutive Olympics (which is biggest sports event here) and 5 of the previous ones they either took brozne (3 times) or were 4th (2 times) and 3rd some seniority things in the national team. Considering all these factors and his young age he's actually coming rather well. You gotta understand how stuff goes in Lithuanian ball team - it's a tiny country, everyone knows ballers since they are 12 or smth, they are more like family than collective of sportsmen. Those dudes pullin prakns on each other and trollin one another if they fail which young players take rather hard cuz they are young and they try hard you know... smh Naturally youngsters get the most no matter how talented they are and Jonas has massive expectations on him. IDK why I'm even typing this... Everyone is ball game expert hare, but they kinda overlook simplest thing ever while calculating some complex stats and ****...

Aniway guy got 4 main things for any person striving to become superstar: talent, work ethincs, character and physical stuff like length, agility, speed, soft touch etc.

Stop panicking and also stop overhyping. Untill he's fully grown up he will be fouling and ****, cuz he lacks some strength, but he's got motor and epic stamina to compensate. Don't forget northern Europeans are late maturers comapred to southerners. At 22-23 they still aren't fully grown men, they just tall teenagers unless ofc they are on roids.

+1, I don't understand why people want to see Jonas V play in SL versus the Olympics.

Broke my keyboard during yesterday's game but am good to post again. That was a very stressful game. Lithuania just couldn't pull away after countless opportunities. PR kept making those 3s to tie it up. Thankfully they made those two blunders at the end.

This was the worst that I have seen Jonas play. It is what it is. The refs weren't allowing much contact unlike in the previous 2 games. Every player has bad games. The best NT player, Kleiza, didn't play so well either.

Jasikevicius saved this game yesterday. He did make a bad turnover in the 4th though. Lucky for Lithuania. Hope they seal it tonight against the Dominican Republic. 8pm.

Sorry NBA fans, summer league is complete crap compared to this experience Jonas is getting. Most of Raptors would shake their legs playing in such games. That's a huge mental experience and JV will be different player and different man after this (hopefully Olympics as well). There was so much of pressure. It was the biggest stage he ever played, even Eurobasket was different.

What i don't like:

1. He contantly overdo in defence. Why can't any coach tell him, try to be more flexible at defencive end. Don't puch it every single second.
2. Trying to block every damn ball. Just raise your hands and that's it.
3. Going outside crazy while defending pick and roll. I don't believe coaches are teaching him to run and in and out so crazy like this.

While he won't learn to avoid stupid fouls (he got some non existant fouls as well, but still..), he won't see good minutes in NT or Raptors.

If he was able to get away with such defence while playing at home (Rytas Siemens Arena), si refs just destroyed him here in Venezuela. Banging around is not allowed for him here.

From what I hear Javtokas has some ankle problems or some simmilar injury. So if them docs won't be able to patch him up, I'm expectin Jonas to start and bear the brunt of the game.

True or not LTU needs to cut a guy, probably Dulkys, to make room for a big such as Lavrinovic for the Olympics. Does the Olympics team allow the same # of spots or more?

Same - 12. Dulkys will probably be changed with Jasaitis after he recovers. Lavrinovic wasn't even included in candidate list (as strange as it may sound).

well that's good news. i miss jasaitis, his hustle is contagious and his corner 3 is money.
