Joba Chamberlain had an absolutely fantastic start today. He struck out 9 and walked 2 in 8 innings, allowing just two hits. More on him below. Jose Tabata, Juan Miranda, Francisco Cervelli, and Kevin Russo all hit doubles today for Tampa. Tim Battle smacked a home run and struck out his other four times to the plate.
Trenton split a double header that saw Brett Smith give up 3 runs in 5 innings and reliever Mike Gardner make the other start. Gardner just turned 26, but is having a great season. He allowed just two walks and one hit in four scoreless innings. Kevin Whelan relieved him with 4 strikeouts in 2 scoreless innings, and Kroenke continued his scoreless streak with a one inning save.
Eric Duncan was 2 for 3 with a walk today for Scranton. He has just 2 strikeouts in his last 10 games. Chris Britton allowed a single in a scoreless inning, and Alberto Gonzalez hit two singles in four at bats. Gonzalez is starting to turn it around, hitting .294/.368/.411 in his last 10 games.

I need to add this....
Andres is also one of my favorite prospects since last season I said he would prove the doubters wrong I have been a fan of his game since way back I'm rooting for him especially for the OF position one day. For those who forgot who Andres Perez is here are the basics of his story first he is a NYC born kid won the NYC batting title in his junior year after hitting .643 and slugging .929 before attending Stony Brook his best sports moment was greatest moment in sports was hitting a homerun at Shea Stadium in the City Championship game , Andres Perez became the sixth player from the 2006 Stony Brook baseball team to sign a professional contract when the five-tool player from New York, N.Y. signed with the New York Yankees. In one year with the Seawolves, Perez was second on the team with a .327 batting average, blasted a team-best seven homeruns and drove in 29 runs.
Over the summer, Perez played for the Torrington Twisters of the New England Collegiate League. Perez was second in the NECL with a .355 batting average and hit eight doubles and six homeruns. For his outstanding summer, Perez was named as the number two prospect in the NECL by Baseball America.
he has the speed and range to also play CF and 2B and has a gun for an arm we might here future promotions for this kid he looks like he's catching on finally.
