One thing I don't understand is people criticizing Ray Allen for going after rings. Weren't KG and Allen going after rings when they pushed to be traded to contenders from Minnesota and Seattle respectively?

Ray Allen is not a true celtic. He doesn't deserve to wear that uniform any longer. He is SCUM!!!!

Not really because this team wasn't established at the time (read: in shambles).

As the NBA trade deadline lurched into its final hour a month ago, league sources say the call Ray Allen long feared had come: Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers was on the line, telling him he had been traded. Allen had been sent to the Memphis Grizzlies for a package including O.J. Mayo and a draft pick, and the Celtics' Big Three had come to a most brusque ending.
For 20 minutes or so, Allen had to process the information. They traded me to Memphis? And yet, as the disappointment dissolved to anger, Rivers returned with a messenger’s nightmare: Never mind. The deal fell apart. Take a deep breath and let’s go back to work again.

The NBA is a business. Celtics treated Ray like a commodity. Why would Allen make a decision based on loyalty when the Celtics clearly don't have any?

Where in the business world do you uproot yourself to work for less money over more years while turning down security (no trade)? This was nothing but a bitch move.

The word "bitch" is very offensive toward women. Can we please grow up and stop being so offensive toward women.

I never considered the possibility of Ray getting backlash from other NBA players. Nice.

Pushed to a contender? You mean when they were traded to a team that won 24 games previously? From what I read KG and Allen did not want to be traded from their teams.

Well it is just Jarret Jack, but still it is nice there is some backlash from his peers. I am sure there are tons of NBA players no thrilled Allen is signing there but they obviously are keeping that to themselves .

I find the double standard that people practice in regards to the usage of words like "gay" and derogatory words/phrases against women like "bitch" or "put a tampon in" to be highly confusing.

On the one hand, a perceived derogatory and demeaning usage of "gay" is highly offensive to some. While equally derogatory words used against women are simply swept under the rug. Both attitudes are symptoms of a hyper masculine world where perceived "weaker" social groups are degraded through casual usage of said negative words.

So since using words like gay is obviously not tolerated, I think it's only fair that we should practice equal discretion in regards to hateful and disrespectful language directed at women.

Is that not fair? Is that not just?

I am also hoping that Allen missing all those free throws in the playoffs is a sign that he is on his way out. Like when your dog or a cat starts pissing all over your house you know the end is near for them.

Ray, thanks for your efforts and professionalism while a Celtic, as a Heat I hope you never win another game or score another point.

I find this thread so amusing...

Ray was the ugly step child of the big 3 who was always the scapegoat who needed to lose minutes or be traded...

But 400 replies later

Ray is a traitor and lets burn his jersey....

You guys aren't making Sports fans in general look real smart

Another thing that gets me now that Allen is there is that there is talk of Lewis AND Camby signing there with heat as well. Seems to me the celtics are crippled by the salary cap yet somehow the heat are simply not effected by it because apparently players will play there for free.

So ridiculous.

Can't they also go the amnesty route with the often injured Mike Miller and sign LeBrons buddy OJ?

I was thinking about this too. The C's heading into the offseason had so much cap space that has quickly evaporated as it has re-signed or allocated monies for bringing back its own. The only big outside signing looks to be Jason Terry, and he's 35.

Miami heading into the summer had so little cap maneuverability yet has landed Ray and looks to, depending on what you read, have a great shot at landing Camby AND Lewis or at least Camby. Granted Ray is coming off surgery and is 37 and Camby is no spring chicken but the Heat have made as big if not a bigger splash this offseason than the C's when you consider the resources each had to work with.
My name's Henry Connor.
Conner Henry was a Celtic.
Hence the pun.
