What a brilliantly non-original idea!

(Here's the link the mile's thread that Aki pointed out.)

Any way we can raise some hype? via twitter. i'm sure if you could get enough fans going for any player, someone will notice.

Good God no. 5 years ago this would have been a great signing. But for someone who relies on his athleticism for both offense and defense, 5 years is an eternity in the NBA. He doesn't even have a consistent jumper or basketball savvy on D to fall back on.

I don't know he just seems like he's more physically gifted and crafty. I think he'd work really well with Nash, seems like he's an efficient scorer, slasher, and can occasionally hit the open 3. I mean what kind of contract would he be looking at?

It really depends on Barnes and Grant Hill for me IMO. If we get one of them or even both, I'd say drop the AK47 talks, we don't need him.

He looked great in the olympic qualifier yesterday. He looks like an incredibly heady player right now, making crisp passes as well as utilizing the pump fake off the three point line for some nice drives to the basket. He was also scrappy on D and fought for(and won) plenty of 50/50 balls.

I'd put him below Jordan Hill, but slightly above Antawn Jamison and way above RaShard Lewis.

AK47 seems to get injured everytime his team actually needs him. I'd rather not have more than one injury risk on our starting roster in Bynum. Wasn't he missing for two of the three playoffs series we had against Deron/Boozer jazz?

He's not super injury prone or anythign but his injuries seem unpredictable and he's a lot older now. I say he's worth something cheap but I wouldn't want the Lakers to spend any real money on him.

Kirilenko has reportedly "almost" decided to stay in Europe for another year. He has until July 12 to opt out of his 3 year contract.

From Eurohoops.net:

"However, CSKA will have him in his roster, unless a last minute offer turns everything upside down."

Clock is ticking.

Do it Mitch.

^ I would have thought it was a given he would come back to the NBA, but I suppose not. He would be a great fit next to Bynum/Pau/Dwight and will play well with Nash finding him for cuts. Hopefully Mitch can work something out and convince him to play for us, even if it's a one year contract.

Since we need a long athletic player for Durant this guy would be the perfect fit. He doesn't want alot of money and wants to live in LA.

Andrei Kirilenko told a Russian reporter that he will probably play for the Nets or CSKA Moscow next season.

Metta is good, but Drago has more length and can guard multiple positions better.

Just theoretically at this point because he won't sign with the lakers, does he even have anything left at this point?

This thread is kinda pointless..AK47 hasnt expressed any real interest in LA can get paid alot more overseas than what LA can pay him.

^Actually he has, according to the report referenced earlier, he singled out Los Angeles as a place he wanted to play in. Also, his salary at CSKA Moscow is 3m, same as our mini MLE. And, that's as much as the Nets can offer him too.

But I can imagine quite a few teams are lobbying for him; recently, the Warriors. Francisco Garcia reached out to him, to consider playing for the Kings.

But if I were AK, I wouldn't want to join the Warriors or the Kings, unless they were breaking the bank, which I doubt. It seems like he's trying to see what kind of NBA offers he can get before making his decision.

I'd just like to know if the Lakers would offer AK our mini MLE. Whether he takes it or not, at least I can respect that the Lakers tried, because it makes so much damn sense for us.

Well according to the interview with Kirilenko that surfaced as early as this week, he only has two teams on his list the Nets or CSKA Moscow. If he goes to the Nets he'll more than likely be a backup, whereas if he stays in Moscow he'll certainly continue to be a starter. He's more than likely staying in Russia, it's time to move on.

Dude is done NBA wise, he was actually finished 2-3 years before he left the league. He's staying in Russia because he can no longer check elite NBA 3's anyway.
