Dirk Nowitzki anyone?

Post#1 » by SmashMouthRod » Fri Jul 6, 2012 4:00 am

Dirk Nowitzki has two seasons remaining on his contract and also a no-trade clause. But with the Mavericks unable to land Deron Williams after not re-signing Tyson Chandler, the question is whether Nowitzki has enough time remaining to endure a rebuild.

"I’m not sure," Nowitzki said when asked the question in May. "I’ve always said I want to finish my career here and obviously the championship season topped it all off; that’s what I always was chasing and dreaming about so that kind of sealed that deal on that front. If we really come out with nobody this summer then maybe they want to rebuild and, obviously, I’m too old for that. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens on that front. But I still think I got two, three good years left in me and if we get some players in here we can be right back up there and compete."

The Mavericks are going to have to rebuild after not getting Howard or D-Will. Should the Pacers make an attempt to get Nowitzki. The Pacers are trying to contend for a championship and this dude could possibly be available soon and good enough to get the team over the Miami Mountain. I personally think his experience and clutch scoring could possibly get the Pacers a championship. Maybe an offer of Granger and/or West and some 1st round picks; Thoughts?

G.Hill/Collison
Free Agent: possibly Mayo or Lee/Stephenson/
P.George/D. Jones/O. Johnson
Nowitzki/West
Hibbert/Plumlee

I'd be surprised if he plays anywhere else during his career.

We really can't make an offer and still have a team around Dirk.

Mavs GM Donnie Nelson is on record this week with saying he wants Dirk to play his entire career in Dallas. So, the only way it happen is if Dirk asks for a trade, which is not in his personality.

That may be where it starts, but I must say there are not a lot of teams capable of giving up a lot for Dirk.

Seriously, everyone knows his time is near, he admits as much himself. While I think he is a bad-ass, I prefer 14 seasons of George, over two seasons of Dirk.

Unfortunately, DIRK is too loyal and will be a Mav for life.

This. Dirk is loyal and he already has a championship. I totally see him ending his career in Dallas.

But I'd love him here :D
