Lee talking to Boston; possible S&T

Post#1 » by Baller 24 » Sun Jul 8, 2012 6:07 pm

http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/_/i ... ources-say

The Celtics don't have the salary-cap space to sign Lee outright, but sources say the Rockets have let it be known that they're willing to participate in sign-and-trade deals with both Marcus Camby and Lee amid the increasing likelihood that neither of those coveted free agents will be returning to Houston.

Looks like we're trying to acquire yet another pick (or multiple picks with us in discussion with the S&T with Camby). Most likely flipping them for DH12 ?

What can boston possibly offer us? I'd honestly like to have Fab Melo but doubt that happens.

We''re still trying to get Howard!??? If Howard didn't want to sign before when we had a decent team, he for sure ain't signing now with this college roster. Morey, just give up already. Leave the team as is and we don't have "tank" to get a top 5 pick these "fans" have been drooling for.

why not get more picks. Rockets already made Lee and unrestricted free agent. Might as well get a pick for him.

As far as going for Howard, I still don't get that logic. Why would Howard possibly want to stay if he ends up in Houston. It will take some major luck for Morey to pull that off trading for Howard and then keeping him and signing CP3 in 2013 or some wild ish like that.

With the direction were headed, were not going to win many games next season and that's fine. Get more picks to along with it.

Yes. He's a very good defender, especially guarding the smaller SGs and bigger PGs.
Bigger SGs can give him some fits, as he isn't quite as big or long enough to contest their shots.
Good understanding of defensive principles. Good fundamentals. Good basketball IQ. Always plays hard. Good guy. Easy to root for.

lee is a great defender. he was on that magic team that dethroned the 08 celtics. a firsr rounder would work.

This would be a good move for Boston. A Rondo/Lee backcourt could do very well.

What would we be trying to get back from the Celtics? Do they have any extra draft picks laying around?

Got their own first for next year, the Bobcats and the T-Wolves 2nd.

Problem is, in any s&t the Rockets would have to take back guaranteed salary, which essentially will be nothing but dead money, unless the Celtics are willing to give up Avery Bradley.

Didn't Bradley just have surgery again? How serious is the injury?

Could Boston be trying to cut their losses on him?

Wouldn't the Rockets try to take back expiring deals or non-guaranteed contracts from them along with picks obviously? Stiemsma, Williams, and Moore have expiring deals this coming year...

Stiemsma is a free agent. Williams could be thrown-in. He's fully unguaranteed, but he only makes $916k. Moore is also fully unguaranteed, but he the Celtics might not want to throw him in a trade as a salary filler.

Lee wants MLE money or more, so you will need at least $3.23M in salary fillers.

Could only speculate in regards to Bradley's injury. Don't think it's serious though. Don't think the Celtics are using him as trade bait.

Nevermind. I thought Stiesma was making 5mil and still having 1 yr left on his deal...looks like Rockets might not do the deal with Celtics then...we'll see what the other teams have
