It didn't have that effect on the 92 Dream Team, and they were far more dominant internationally because basketball outside the US hadn't caught up with us yet. I blame this big three, super-team crap on Lebron and Miami, and to a lesser extent, Boston from 2008.

Don't forget Payton and Malone going to L.A.

Where do you think Lebron, wade and bosh came up with the idea to team up? Beijing. Boston's big 3 and payton/malone waited till they were too old to lead a team themselves. I don't have a problem with that. It's the dwights and lebrons of the league who leave their own team when they should be the ones recruiting others if anything. You constantly hear old school stars talk about how they respected their rivals, but never wanted to play with them... only against them. The league has changed... for the worse.

This is the NBA today. Disgusting.

You will absolutely see a FRANCHISE TAG in the next CBA. Guaranteed. The small market teams will get tired of this.

Actually I blame the NBA and the NBAPA for not having a HARD CAP. It's absolutely ridiculous that a team could sign 3 players to max contracts and still have enough money to put a decent supporting cast around them.

In order for 3 max players to get together on a team, it should mean taking a significant pay cut to make it happen.

Yeah, that too. Could yo imagine no limits on "max" contracts and a hard $70 mil cap?

If he could trade Dwight along with Hedo, Duhon, and JRich for expirings and picks, I'm sure no one would be mad.

Maybe some kind of Pick Compensation like MLB does for a FA signings crap or an NFL comp Pick thing?

Henny needs to hold till at least the deadline. Who knows who could be available then to come help Dwight in Orlando or be available for Dwight.

I'm still wondering why BBD was so sure Dwight would stay after this season was over...doesn't seem like that was the case at all.

Because Dwight probably trolled Big Baby like he trolled us... telling him how much he loves it here, how much he loves his teammates, etc. All BS.

I understand your point, it's mine as well. We're just saying it a different way. The league has changed for the worse. Players on past Olympic teams who dominated didn't come back stateside and say, screw this self-reliance and team-building junk, I'm just going to join up with my competition and pummel weaklings, you know, cause that means I'm the best. It's a bit like Wal-Mart and Target crushing all the mom-and-pop stores. The strong, unchecked, gang up and destroy everyone else. That didn't happen as recently as fifteen years ago; the top players wanted to test themselves against other top players.

Oh well. Partly because I'm a masochist who never learns, I'll keep watching and waiting for my Orlando championship.

Yeah, it's a bit disappointing for anyone who grew up watching the older generation of stars...

There are two trade scenarios that would make me happy:

Rebuild accelerator package of youth, expiring contracts, and picks, positioning us to tank in '13 for a lottery pick with serious cap space to bring in an all star.

Trade for Bynum in a package that allows us to move one or all of Baby|JRich|Hedo, giving us a franchise center to build around and serious cap space to use in summer '13 for rebuilding our core.

The Net's package does neither.

The past 90's Olympic teams had players at the end of their careers. The younger players did join forces.
