If Not Ilyasova, Then Who?
It seems as though our #1 PF option, Ersan Ilyasova, is going to re-sign with the Milwaukee Bucks for 5 years, $45mil. We need to start looking at other options, and I wanted to get a consensus from Nes fans on who King and Co. should pursue. Here are the prime targets:
KRIS HUMPHRIES - UFA - 6'9 27yo PF who is limited offensively but has a high motor - elite rebounder, good open-court finisher around the basket - Nets FO seemd dead-set on S&T'ing him away for an upgrade, but alternative options have dwindled
JASON THOMPSON - RFA - 6'11 25yo PF/C with a versatile inside/outside game - good rebounder, average defender - might outbid SAC, or entice to S&T with Humphries as bait
ELTON BRAND - UFA - 6'9 32yo PF with bruising low-post offense and staunch man defense - creative and efficient interior passer, solid rebounder - would need to use an exception (MLE) to make an amnesty bid
RYAN ANDERSON - RFA - 6'10 PF - Rangy forward with decent rebounding ability and deadly 3-point accuracy - ORL is cool on Humphries S&T, so acquiring Ryan would be tricky

We don't have any exceptions left, so Brand is out unless he clears waivers. Anderson would be impossible to acquire.

I believe Teletovic will be starting for us this season but we will need another quality big. I say put in a bid for Brand and see what happens. Couldn't hurt having his rebounding off the bench.

Re: If Not Ilyasova, Then Who?
With Mirza accepting the lower of the two trade exceptions, it leaves the Nets with $1.4 Million. With Ilyasova seemingly gone, I am pushing for the Nets to go after Anthony Randolph. Put this advertisement out: looking for athletic, 6'10 - 6'11, young PF, that can run the floor, shoot with touch, solid free throw shooter, and rebounds. Add in, will come for cheap. This is Anthony Randolph.
This kid is 22 years old. He has been inconsistent in his career. Not too many young people in general are consistent. However, his skills and talent is evident. The Nets could bring him into a situation were he could get consistent minutes and showcase is talents. Playing with a Deron Williams could be the draw that brings out the best in him. With Humphries alone, the Nets are going no where fast. The Nets need a potential player. Ilyasova was a player that just started producing off of his potential. Anthony Randolph is OVER 2 YEARS YOUNGER than Ilyasova. The good aspect with the Nets is there coaching staff. Popeye Jones, Mario Ellie, and Dr. Jeremy Bettle will get this kid ready better than any other organization he played for. If given the opportunity, I see Randolph topping out as younger Jermaine O'Neal. Jermaine O'Neal started to tap into his potential in his 5th year. This upcoming season will be Anthony Randolph's 5th season.
I have been on other blogs calling for Ilyasova and Anthony Randolph for sometime now. With Ilyasova gone, that leaves Anthony Randolph. I am not saying forget about Humphries. The Nets could resign him as well. It is just that Humphries's ceiling is not high enough to bring to the Nets what they need.

Elton's the best choice, should he clear waivers. We need some post D/rebounding if Hump is dealt

I'd go with Camby. If they're planning to start Teletovic than Humphries brings very little off the bench. Camby can backup 2 positions and bring elements of rebounding and defense not currently present. Plus I'm guessing he would have a very movable contract.

There's no way someone picks up Brand's tab on waivers. He'll clear and be free to sign with whoever.
I say Brand, Camby, and Magic Randolph.

Why not just roll with Teletovic as the starter- with Kris as his back up?

Na i think some teams will at least put a small bid on Brand.Billups told teams not to bid on him and he still got picked up.If you can get a veteran like Brand for 3-5 mill that's a steal.

Forget Hump. He will be apart of a sign and trade. Mira will start. However, why not an Anthony Randolph to come off the bench? All the upside in the world.

We should go for Kevin Love.
