I'm over it.

Ray had a good Celtic career. It was fun watching him break 3pt records & make clutch game winnings shots, but he's 37, coming off two ankle surgeries ... I not hoping that going to Miami is a career reviving move for him & I don't agree with the principal of his decision, but it was/is time to move on. He'll just never be a true Celtic to me.

Huge appreciation for Ray before his move, no appreciation left after it. He betrayed us, simple as that. We (our the Celtics board) might have betrayed him but still, moving to the Heat is BS. You never do that unless you want to stab whole the Celtics nation in their back. And that's what he did. Now he can eat *.

You guys have such a sense of entitlement. Ray Allen isn't a slave. He's a human being who is free to do what he wants. He had issues with Rondo, was almost traded a couple times, and knew he would lose a lot of minutes to Bradley this year. He's a huge defensive liability at this point, and with only KG as a proven rim defender the Celtics cannot afford the constant blow-bys he allows.

I don't blame him for booking it to Miami at all. He'll be able to better perserve his ankles/body with a lessened load for *gasp* his post retirement life, and have a great shot at winning another championship. I enjoy watching him play for the last 5 years, and I'll still enjoy watching him fill it up on the Heat.

Awesome vid, thanks!
Good assessment:

Excuse my english cause it's not my native language.

Anyhow, you can certainly look at this the logical, rational way and then you can indeed say: maybe his move is, for the chance of getting a championship, for the chance of getting more open shots etc, a good decision. But I'm living my life with emotions. When I think logical I would never have a smoke or a drink cause that can ruin your liver or your lungs but you know. It's just a feeling, how I feel about that move. You actually know what I mean. If everything was perfecty logic and stuff, yea, I wouldnt like it. It's just, I'm feeling really really and deeply disappointed by Ray Allen. Not the slave Ray Allen, just the person I imagined he was, for Boston and for me personally. It's just a personal feeling and I think there's nothing wrong with that feeling.

Fair enough. I didn't mean to quote your post by the way. I just did it out of habit. I just dislike people calling the guy a traitor and slandering his name etc. He gave all he could for his 5 years, and he's free to move on and I respect his decision. I've just tried to become emotionally detached from sports recently, because we've got absolutely no control over the outcome. It's just entertainment and I stress too much when I put emotion into it.

Yeah that might be the best thing to do :) But that makes sport so hard and so nice, imo.

I still think it was a punk move. He can do whatever he wants, but that doesn't make it a great, admirable, honorable decision worthy of my respect and admiration. You could join the Klan if you want, I wouldn't be proud of you if you did, though.

If I don't like guys who would make a career change for less money to stick it to an organization that was very good to him, that's my call and I don't need you over the internet telling me I'm entitled or insinuating that I would ever say he is a slave who owes it to me to play for the Celtics. Get over yourself with the superiority complex. You're not telling me or most likely anyone else participating in this thread anything they don't already know. Everyone here is "sports mad", not real mad. I am sorry people don't qualify every post on an obscure Celtics message board with "granted, this is just sports, but..."

If you don't care about where Allen plays or don't get emotionally invested in sports, then do yourself a favor and don't enter a thread where a great player left a team that he won a championship with 72 hours ago. It's not going to be your scene. I've spent countless hours at the games, on this forum, and in life talking about Ray and watching him play. Easily my favorite player since Bird. It has been an amazing 5 years and I've really enjoyed the privilege of watching a truly special basketball player. Ordinarily I don't go overboard following sports either, but the Ray Allen era ending in Boston is a legitimately sad day, at least for me.

For him to take half the money in a big, final, public act of "Eff You" to this team is weak. Maybe you don't care, but I'll never look at Allen the same way again and I think that sucks. Whatever man. If that doesn't piss you off and you'll enjoy watching him on the Heat, good for you. That's YOUR opinion, not mine, and not necessarily anyone else's. I wish I could say the same. I think it blows and didn't think Ray was the type of competitor that would sell out an ECF team like that. It is disappointing and sad in my opinion, and it doesn't make me any more wrong for judging him than it makes you right for not judging him for making the decision he made.

GREAT post, Godmoney.

LOVE that Doc, Danny, and Wyc have all basically said 'yeah, whatever..' about this. Danny's emphasis in multiple quotes about how great all the guys who they've signed recently are IN THE LOCKERROOM speaks volumes.

Our team gets younger and more unified.

Good luck with those bone spurs, Ray. If they don't heal up at least you can golf year-round..

Stupendous video. Only thing it's lacking is the 'THERE'S BOBCATS ALL OVER THE FLOOR!' line which is one of my favorites of the last 5 years.

My friend met Ray Allen and his family today at an outlet store he works at in Connecticut, which is funny because my sister was his waitress at a shoreline CT seafood place the night he signed with Miami. Friend said he said hello. Allen left quickly but his sister stayed behind for a bit. As she was leaving, friend said, "Tell Ray good luck in Miami." She said he would really appreciated it as he's been catching a lot of heat (no pun intended) around CT. He said that she implied that Boston management didn't treat him right last season and that was the reason. So, the rumors about Allen being upset ate true.

I shouldn't have watched that vid. All my anger is just real sadness and disappointment. **** didn't have to be this way. Dude should retire a Celtic.

So he's mad at management. How can you not put that aside for the brothers you've gone to war with for 5 years, the fans who loved you like crazy, and your legacy as one of the greats? AND get paid double the money to do it!

How I wish he'd change his mind and just come back. I'd forget all about this. **** I sound like I'm blubbering over a female. Celtics do it to you though. Ray was/is in my top 5 fave players ever. Dude inspired me and kept me believing in the integrity and tradition of the sport all these years.

Change your mind, Ray! There's still time. Don't sign that paper!

I'm happy and thankful for what he has accomplished in Boston and helping get Banner 17. Times have changed and nobody how bitter he felt after this season. Definitely don't like him going to Miami, pretty much the only team standing in our way of the Finals, we don't need his ego here, hope our boys in green are more motivated to face them now and show him a little piece of their mind. Looking back on it now I wished they traded him for Iggy and Kapono back in the 2010 trade deadline.

Yuhp. This video struck the heart big time..so many great memories..I miss him already. Even though we are all disappointed and none of us agree with his reasons for leaving, I hope that after the storm passes, Boston fans can find it in their hearts to give him a great ovation when he comes back home. No need to make him feel worse.. I think he'll feel bad enough when he realizes the huge mistake he made. :sigh:
WHAT THEY GON’ SAY NOW? ‎ THANK YOU TRUTH!
