If we don't have cap space I'm strongly hoping that we don't rush into signing mediocre talent. we'd be much better off if the Blazers FO waited till 2013.

I'm glad the Pacers did this now so that Olshey can work towards something else. who's next, Mayo? Mcgee? The latter worries me a bit thought the former might be a decent option considering that he's a UFA and we could use an iso player.

Offering Mahinmi a 2yr deal with 2nd yr not guaranteed is hardly problematic.

Oh Gosh, please NO to McGee...

I'm excited about the news of not overpaying Hibbert, now all we have to do is not overpay Batum and it will be an ideal offseason for me.

I believe Mahinmi has the same agent as one Nicolas Batum. So me thinks it unlikely we bring him in.

Yup, I think Olshey offers a few deals like that if everything else falls through. I wonder if we could overpay for somebody on a 1 year deal or a 1 year deal with a second year team option.

If we want to overpay someone on a one year deal, we can probably hop in and grab Humphries from Brooklyn pretty easily.

also, am wondering how long it will take before I don't have to delete where I wrote NJ, and change it to Brooklyn.

FWIW, it sounds like Mike Wells has heard the same thing that Aldridge did. He tweeted that DA's tweet was accurate that the Pacers are just going to give Hibbert the same offer the Blazers would have given him so they don't have to go through the process of the Blazers signing him, then they wait and match. Sounds like the Pacers just want it over with as quickly as the Blazers would.

The sliver lining in all this then is that the Blazers won't have their cap space tied up at all with Hibbert.

At this point, I'd be interested in the Blazers making a 1 year offer to Kaman. At that point, they at least have an expiring contract to work with next year.

I'd rather just throw Leonard into the fire than sign Kaman.

Hell yeah!

Lillard - Smith
Matthews - Williams
Babbitt - Barton
Aldridge - Claver
Leonard - Thomas

Looks like the perfect roster to me! Babbitt for 2012 all-star starting SF

I'd be fine with that too honestly. I long resigned to the fact that this upcoming season was more than likely going to be a down year for the Blazers. If they want to keep their money and just let Leonard start for the whole season, more power to them.

It's the only alternative left, isn't it?

Excellent altetnative at that. I personally like what McGee would be bring to the team.

My plan now would be 1) trade batum for Derek Williams, maybe a future first, Also.
2) take Humphries and marshawn from Brooklyn to facilitate the Dwight trade.
3) sign oj mayo.
4) resign jj

Lineup:
Pg: lillard
Sg: mayo, marshawn
SF: Williams, Mathews
pf: Humphries, Hickson
C: Lma, Leonard

No one year deals to get us nowhere. If we're gonna lose we're gonna take it like man.

well, I doubt they could get Kaman for a 1 year deal anyway

they will be able to consider re-signing Hickson. He might be nice to have at 3-4 million a year. He at least was fun to watch

I actually think the Blazers could put together a competitive that would make it interesting. Add Hickson. Bring back Przy on a vet minimum deal. Sign a cheap backup PG like Keyon Dooling or Jannero Pargo. Get Matt Barnes on a 1yr deal

they could probably do something like that and still carry a little cap-space into the season, with more available next season

Well no shock here. Everyone with a brain knew
the Pacers would match. There really is no other
player R/FA wise that is difference maker, so now
its saving the $$$ and playing the rookies.. .

I just hope they dont try and keep Batum.

If the Blazers really want to be wise about saving their money, they'd let Batum walk if that big offer ever materializes.

I wonder if the supposed same terms is really just a way to say they offered Hibbert the money he refused(because the terms are different) so they are going to just let him go face saving measure

Youre right and I hope they do let him go if that happens.
