Someone mentioned Mitch Richmond, not too long ago and you see a lot of potential stylistic similarities in this video. Nice trip down memory land and worth a watch. Mitch went to six straight all-star games and is a borderline hall of famer. He also entered the NBA at 23. I am excited for the Wall-Beal backcourt for years to come.

That would be me. I loved "The Rock's" game...seemed to be a great guy as well. We can only hope that Beal turns out to be as a good as Mitch. Thanks for posting the video.

DCZ, do you remember what Mitch hurt in 92-93 that limited him to 45 games? He was super durable otherwise, but in those clips he seems to have been much bouncier in his earlier days. It looks like he carried around a few extra pounds as he got longer in the tooth as well. I wonder if that injury was to blame and how much better he;d have been without it.

Really interesting hearing MJ and Phil praise him, especially his smarts and defense.

EDIT: Never mind, it was a thumb injury. The knee problems didn't start until he got.......here.

As much as I loved Mitch, boy did I hate that stupid trade engineered by Wes, reportedly at Abe's insistence. Chris Webber was in his prime and Mitch was clearly on the downside of his career. Worst trade in Bullets/Wizards history, imo. But Mitch was a special player as member of Run TMC, with Tim Hardaway and Chris Mullin, in Golden State and with the Kings.

No argument there, DCZ. Mitch was also highly under-appreciated (as the feature in teh video clip alludes to) because he played on bad teams in SacTown, and was an understated guy not into self promotion.

Some new footage of Beal and Vesley knocking down jumpers on the Wizards page, btw. Beal has a very nice stroke. Sam C. was trying his best to distract him but that jumpshot is pure.

Imagine Beal's jump shot being as good as advertised, Wall and vesely showing up with markedly imporved jump shots, and one more rotation deadeye shooter on top of that. This would be a markedly different team on offense.

My favorite part is right at the beginning when he looks overjoyed to have been selected by the Wizards. Beal WANTED to be a Wizard.

Beal is going to be like a breath of fresh air to the Wizards franchise.

I think Beal is going to wiwnd up in the starting unit sooner rather than later because Wall will demand it.

I guess I feel better about the situation with Wittman at the helm than with Flip. Wittman does seem to run more of a meritocracy. I think the tendency however is for inertia to play some role in the starting lineup. It takes a guy a while to earn a starting spot, even if, to the layman, he obviously deserves it. I wasn't saying that Wall deserves to determine who plays and who doesn't, but rather, that if Beal deserves to start, Wall having a voice will make sure it happens sooner rather than later.

After all, a big part of the pick was not just to improve team shooting overall, but to field a functional starting lineup, featuring Wall.

Interesting comparison between Richmond and Beals form.

Didn't find to many Wizards highlights of Mitch Richmond but I am a bit curious after watching some of the Kings highlights.. I do recall Richmond having quite the scissor kick on his jumpers with Washington, but there's really no evidence of it in highlights of his early career.

Am I taking crazy pills, or is it possible that he was compensating for his lack of lift on jumpers late in his career by creating more leverage?
