I do not want this trade. But if Henny says this is the best we can do i'll accept that. I honestly believe there is more at play here than is being reported. I think threats are being made and hands are being forced. Agents are a lot more powerful than i realized.

No more Ryan, great move now use 7.5 trade exception and JJ to acquire Monta as he will never sign extension with Milwaukee.. sign Bayless to 1 yr deal... Send Fran and J Rich to Min for Martell Webster as he has an unguarnteed 5.7 mil contract. Thoughts??

Have y'all noticed that every player that rob has picked up and about to trade for has a really nice wingspan. I'm not sure about Luke but everyone else does. I guess that is something that he looks for in a player.

Sigh. I used to look forward to the original post in these threads. It's gotten stale.

Several hours after hearing about it, it still sucks big balls, I'm sorry.

This is bullsh*t. I doubt we really scare away any FAs if we traded Dwight somewhere else, they have seen what he has put us through........Hell, some of them even commented on it.

don't worry, once regular season starts, everyone will be on the Lopez bandwagon, hoping/expecting the best out of him. myself included.

what is really getting me is that it seems like the Magic are treating this deal like it's the ONLY way we can unload bad contracts, so we can go on to tank. and the contracts we're moving are Jason Richardson and Duhon... JRich is paid under $6M a season, and should be easily moveable, and Duhon is only guaranteed $1.5M after this season.

i would prefer to waive Duhon, and find an expiring (like Gomes from LAC) for JRich, rather than jump through these hoops just to get Bynum. i'd also rather run the risk of losing Dwight for nothing.

but, that said, once Lopez is here he'll be able to go back to putting up numbers, and hopefully he'll become another solid trade asset down the line - which we will have control over trading.

Lopez is just so tough to build around you need a finesse defender at PF like Kevin Garnett who rebounds like crazy to complement him well...we will go from the best interior defender to one of the worst....

I can't accept it being the best we can do even if he tells it is in a press conference. Because I believe doing nothing at all would be better.

I think everyone can agree that just about everyone thought Cleveland was finished in the free agent market after Dan Gilbert's little stunt with his letter 2 years ago.

Yet, here we sit...with Andrew Bynum talking about how he would be interested in going to Cleveland once he's a free agent.

No matter what Orlando does with Dwight: Trade him somewhere else, sit him like the Knicks did with Marbury, or whatever else you can think of....

Free agents will always come. So the worry of no one coming here to take our state tax-free money should be the furtherest thing from management's mind. Not even a concern.

Cleveland and New York have been used to drive up guys deals. New York signed Amare when they had room, so that worked out nicely. Cleveland continues to take on contracts because even they dont believe they can be players in free agency. We burn Dwight and his agent, it may not stop everyone from coming here, but it might cost us that one pick or free agent that would make us contenders down the road.

Yeah, money talks. They will sign where the money is and then force their way out a few years later if they don't like it.

To my knowledge you cant combine a player and a tpe for Ellis. Tpe has to be the whole amount of the player. Please correct me if I am wrong.

THE THREAD WHERE DWIGHT DON'T GET WHAT HE WANTS!

What if he wanted LA and Hollywood all along in the first place? What a way to make sure the fans hate him for going to LA than have fans happy he didn't go to the nets.

Then great.

We get Bynum and not the Nets trash.

Unless you believe we can move Brook Lopez for assets that we all agree can be useful(which I don't), then you're stuck with him for 4 years. And his deal puts you in less of a position 2 years from now from possibly making a giant splash in free agency, because we're not even getting that much off of the books in return.

I believe this proposed deal has a more negative impact on our long term future than anyone is realizing. If this deal allowed us to unload Hedo, Davis, J-Rich, and Duhon...I would be on board with taking this still horrible deal, and moving on...because it's a huge win on our cap number. But no good picks? Doesn't really create any cap space, in fact it probably hurts our cap number down the road, and there's no young promising talent to build around.

And we're stuck with a center who can't rebound or defend for four seasons, that has had 2 foot/ankle injuries in the last year....that are known to plague big men once they start occurring.

This deal is no bueno from all angles. This isn't me as a fan not wanting this deal because it's crappy even though it would help us long term. In no way, shape, or form do I think this deal helps us with a rebuild. I believe 100 percent that it actually delays it more than holding onto Dwight would.

Didn't we just trade Ryan for Ayon and the 7.5 TPE???
