Ric Bucher & Kaman

Post#1 » by QuantumMacgyver » Mon Jul 9, 2012 11:00 pm

This might be old news, but it is the first I am hearing of it.

Apparently Ric Bucher thinks the Jazz are one of the teams taking a run at Kaman.

Does that make any sense? Would this foreshadow a Jefferson trade?

Do the Jazz have more than the mid-level exception to offer now that Raja has been bought out, or does that not effect the salary cap?

Your thoughts...

Trading Jefferson followed by signing Kaman would make me very happy.

I would assume it would be a sign and trade of Kaman for Jefferson. Kaman is a better smarter player but I would be surprised if the Jazz committed to Kaman for a lot of money for a lot of years. I do see him as an upgrade over Jefferson but not a huge upgrade. It does tell you that the Jazz are not happy with the progress of Kanter. Kanter was terrible today in the Summer league game.

Instead of getting Kaman, I would prefer to simply amnesty Jefferson if you cant trade him and start Kanter alongside of Favors and see what happens.

I find it funny that Brian T. Smith says the Jazz are "stocked at center" with Al Jefferson, Kanter and Favors. Given that Favors sees himself as a PF, Al Jefferson played primarily PF before his stint in Utah and Kanter is an unproven and undersized young player, I'd say the Jazz are anything BUT stocked at center.

There's no way NOH is taking on his salary.

1 year contract. Makes them more competetive for one year and playing alongside of their new 3 point shooting PF would be a good idea. They just loss one center in Ayon and losing Kaman leaving them with no centers so makes sense for them.

Kaman is like Al Jefferson if Al Jefferson was injured almost every game and turned the ball over on every possession.

And what happens to Anthony Davis? I just don't see Kaman in Utah in a way that makes any sense to New Orleans.......

Davis will be coming off the bench initially as he is quite young and might not start all year. If he shows signs that he deserves to start then Jafferson gets traded at trading deadline or gets benched by NO. Jefferson despite his aweful game and big 1 year contract is an asset especially at next years trading deadline for NO, bc its an expiring contract which is big under the new salary cap rules.

I think the real question is Kaman a big upgrade over Big Al? I hate Big Al's game but I am not a huge fan of Kaman's game either to pay a long term contract.

Davis will start every game that he is healthy. No one with a floundering franchise plays the number one pick off the bench.

If the Jazz make this move as anything but a way to make Favors a bonafide starter with Kaman coming off the bench, I'll be sort of disappointed. Not a big Kaman fan at all, and he's certainly not in his prime.

You really think Davis can play center at this age against other starting centers? He needs to build up his body before he can start in the NBA at center. Anderson is their starting PF thus Davis will someday be their starting center even though his body right now is of a PF. If Im NOH I would do this trade even though I hate Jefferson's game bc Jefferson is a good guy that will help out Davis in his post game.

I would be shocked is Davis starts any games this season.

Kaman? The same guy who had way easier shots and less double/triple teams than jefferson and only managed to hit 44% from Fg.

Are you serious?

If Davis were playing for the Spurs I would say no he doesn't start this year, however he is playing for the team that just got screwed out of Chris Paul. They are gonna sell tickets purely because they drafted Davis. Look at how upset people get on here about not starting Favors. Then multiply that by a 1000.

WTF? You say you want the jazz to make moves to make themselves better and here they are making moves and rumored to make some. Here you are complaining even more. What ideas do you have? Remember it takes two to tango, this isn't nba live.

The Jazz should try to keep Jefferson if they can. He is a fantastic offensive player. I know his defensive limitations...but after years of Boozer, I am sort of used to that, and Al is actually an upgrade from Boozer...

Kaman seems past his prime and oft-injured...

The Jefferson hate is getting out of hand.

Big Al is a nice guy and good teammate BUT a TERRIBLE basketball player and very STUPID man. Simply, if Big Al did not play at all last year then the Jazz would have won more games. I truly believe that and know that is the truth.
