Glen Davis is better at the center position than Brook Lopez. And the more I think about it, the more I think there's a bigger gap between the two than I originally thought.

Are we even paying Davis half of what we'd have to pay Lopez? Davis at least tries to battle on defense, and rebounds so much better.

I'll take the starting version of Glen Davis as our center over Brook Lopez...ANY-FRICKING-DAY. We can let Davis shoot under 50 percent from the field, while grabbing more boards in the low post and save the $14 million.

God, this possible deal just looks worse and worse to me by the moment. I'm actually trying hard to find something like about it, I really am. But all I uncover are more things to hate about it. Like my latest realization that we can get better than Lopez' production from Glen Davis.

Normally I don't worry about such things until they've actually happened, but this deal is just so horrifying I can't help by worry about the future of the only pro sports franchise in the city I've lived in my entire life.

I don't know anyone can defend this deal is it goes down. Completely indefenisble from all angles.

You know what...
I balked at this at first, thinking we'd gone too far in the Lopez bashing.
But you just might be on to some something.
Is a BBD/Nicholson frontcourt and the extra 8 million better than Lopez.
I say yes.

We should have a thread where we practice being information pimps, providing feedback and constructive criticism. Orlando Boards school of insiding or the Art of Insiding, Orlando Magic board style... :P

Marc J. Spears @SpearsNBAYahoo
Danny Green's three-year, $12 million deal with the Spurs is totally guaranteed, source tells Y! Sports.

I actually like this guy, he would have been really good in Orlando.

Kyler can go somewhere with that tweet. Henny can take all the time he needs to get the deal he is looking for. If all the rumors are bothering fans then they don't have to read twitter, and turn on espn.

H-town keep working!
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

Haven't been on here all day because once I heard about that Dwight/Brooklyn trade I almost went insane haha.

Houston PLEASE come through for us, it just seems like a perfect match.

Not that Dwight probably cares or anything, but being down in Houston he could worth with Keem A LOT more & could really become the best player he could possibly be.....but like I said I doubt he cares about that, & that's a shame.

If you want to hate this trade because of Lopez, it'd make much more sense to point out that he has foot troubles and has questionable rebounding desires.

Obviously we're comparing apples to apples, but it's like a granny smith and a fuji. Dwight is defense first, Lopez is offense. Just like there was a solution for Howard's lack of offense (stretch 4, lots of 3s), there is a solution for Lopez's lack of rebounding desire (Kris Humphries was 5th in the NBA in rebounding last year and is a 10 rebound a game guy) and that solution is a defensive minded, rebounding 4.

If Henny thinks this is the best move, he must have a plan to put a team that utilitizes Lopez's strengths and minimizes his weaknesses. We've stacked up a lot of big, traditional PFs and Cs if that is any clue to what he's thinking.

Uh, you do know that there is more to defense than blocking shots, right? The idea that you're even comparing blocked shot numbers to show that the difference between the two defensively isn't that bad(and I know that's what you're implying)....is so absurd I don't even know where to begin. Howard's help defense, and defensive rotations are the best in the leauge by far. He is able to cover for the mistakes of the other 4 players on the floor, consistently.

I don't really know how to say this without sounding insulting, but if you're implying what I think you're implying ...I would have to seriously question your knowledge of the game.

So if we do the Rockets trade we would:

Get rid of bad contracts?
Get young talent?
Get draft picks?
Move Dwight to the west?
Troll Fegan?
Have cap room for 1or 2 max free agents next year?

Lamb/White/Parsons is much needed wing help and youth.

There's a load of 1st round draft picks and a potential lottery pick.

And K-Mart's expiring deal can be a huge asset at the deadline.

Overall a better trade.

Several hours after hearing about it, it still sucks big balls, I'm sorry.

This is bullsh*t. I doubt we really scare away any FAs if we traded Dwight somewhere else, they have seen what he has put us through........Hell, some of them even commented on it.

don't worry, once regular season starts, everyone will be on the Lopez bandwagon, hoping/expecting the best out of him. myself included.

what is really getting me is that it seems like the Magic are treating this deal like it's the ONLY way we can unload bad contracts, so we can go on to tank. and the contracts we're moving are Jason Richardson and Duhon... JRich is paid under $6M a season, and should be easily moveable, and Duhon is only guaranteed $1.5M after this season.

i would prefer to waive Duhon, and find an expiring (like Gomes from LAC) for JRich, rather than jump through these hoops just to get Bynum. i'd also rather run the risk of losing Dwight for nothing.

but, that said, once Lopez is here he'll be able to go back to putting up numbers, and hopefully he'll become another solid trade asset down the line - which we will have control over trading.

Yeah......being honest, I probably will, too.

I know I say I'll stop watching the NBA and all that......but truth be told, I'll be right here.

No, the contracts are ****. BUT, what difference does it make if we sign Brook Lopez to a max deal?

Rockets got a lot of expiring contracts in this deal with NYK.
