Why do people keep saying Asik will play 15MPG?

Do you expect our frontcourt to be Iron Man again? I don't.

Like Loul if you're not going to have surgery just come out and say you are not going to have surgery....If the Bulls are going to match particularly when deals can be signed at 9PM Western tomorrow just come out and say we will be matching Asik. At this late in the game it means nothing, to state your intentions.

In crunch time Taj, Noah, and Asik can match up defensively with any type of front court and be successful. If we lose Asik teams will go big on us and Noah will be in foul trouble. Not to mention very few bigs as big as Asik can hedge on the pick and roll like he can. He's a part of what makes us elite. We can't lose that now. If we had a second star that we could build with that would be different but as of now Defense and Rebounding are what make us elite.

Iron Man? Asik is our 4th best big man. Where exactly is his minutes increase going to come from?

One of Noah, Boozer, Gibson being injured = Likely

Kurt Thomas played 23 MPG and played reserve minutes when in 2010 for the Bulls.

He played less than 15 minutes a game last year, why would he play more this year? Do you have some inside information on Noah's injury or something that says he's not going to be ready for the start of the season?

Give him more of Boozer's minutes. Sit Boozer and Noah more. Have them healthy for the playoffs.

If you have not heard there are very few good bigs in the league, there is only 1 other team with 2 good 7 footers and it is in the west. Nobody in the East can "GO BIG" on us. Not worried about losing Asik, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more worried about the lack of scoring in the back court.

If we match Asik and trade him in the final year, does the team trading for him hold his bird rights?

I really hope we match. Trade Asik+Bobcats pick that last year for whoever is the big fish demanding a trade. By then I would think that pick would look real attractive, assuming the Bobcats haven't turned into a winning team. That guy could be Kevin Love threatening to leave Minnesota if they don't trade him to the Bulls or something.

The Bulls have become so good at drafting and then developing young players that they cannot even resign them when they are restricted free agents without overpaying them. The same thing is going to happen with Taj next year. Its pretty unbelievable how much Omer and Taj have improved since joining the team, considering that they were both late first round picks and no one expected much out of them. Hopefully the same thing will happen with Teague.

How many games did our bigs miss last year?
A couple and we had Scalabrine then.

I see Asik getting 18 to 22 this year.

They get hurt every year and yet Asik still has never played more than 15 minutes per game. If we resign Asik, cool. But I sincerely hope you aren't expecting his role to change in any way. He'll once again play his 15 minutes a night, dominate defensively and be a bumbling idiot on offense. Only for 8+ million per now.

If the reason for resigning Asik is that he will play much more than 15mpg, then that's a sign that Noah is the guy you should be trading.

By the way...in the magical 2010-11 campaign, Noah played 1576 minutes and Omer played 989. Please do not underscore how important Omer has been to our success.

He's the defensive center on an elite defensive unit, and he plays a lot. He affects winning. Noah is not a guy who alters shots in the lane.

People act like Asik's 15 mpg mean he never played more than 15. There were games he played more, games he played less. Reason being, there are some teams where Noah's talents are less useful, and some where Asik's are less useful.

Having both of them helped make us an elite defense. Defense is what we were best at, and 48 minutes of multifaceted centers was a reason we had an advantage over other teams.

You guys just conveniently forgot how our bench mob used to come in and turn the tide of games. Asik and Gibson = stifling. Noah has an array of skills, but defensively he's not nearly as physical as Asik. His offensive rebounding is largely a product of playing a lot of minutes with Rose driving to the hoop, drawing attention from opposing big men.

When Noah gets boxed out, he is very boxed out.

Given that we need offense, and already are very capable defensively, I'd say that Asik's talents are more useful somewhere else, and suggest that we use that money to find some offense.

Asik is not our anchor, people. He played FIFTEEN minutes.

Asik can only play Center and Noah missed 2 regular season games.

They weren't hurt last year.

Yeah 8+ Million for one season. Trade piece. Asset.

Bulls made their decision to keep him instead of dealing him when they had the chance.

See my post above comparing total minutes played by Asik and Noah. Asik contributed a lot to this team. People won't appreciate it til it's gone.
