He's the defensive center on an elite defensive unit, and he plays a lot. He affects winning. Noah is not a guy who alters shots in the lane.

So Noah's going to play 48 games each season?

Huh? The point is we had a very successful defense year and he was a very good-sized part of that.

People here talk like Noah will play 48 minutes every night, or like Omer won't be missed because Noah is capable of doing it all. Point is, these last two years, Noah has been part of a team, just like Omer has been part of a team.

I'm not willing to take "who knows if he'll still be here" as a legitimate justification. That's a joke. $15 million is a big number to be paying our backup center in the middle of our (hopefully) title contending years.

Asik shuts down entire offenses by himself. We don't get to contend for titles without him. I don't see why you don't realize that it's much easier to stay elite with Omer than it is to give him away and try to win with out him. Who realistically can do what he can?

Lol. Asik shuts offenses down by himself? When did this guy become Superman? And we can't contend without him?! What are you thinking? Omer Asik is VITAL to our championship dreams? Wow. Can't argue with delusion, man. You got me.

Asik Discussion, P18 Aggrey- Bulls leaning against matching

Post#363 » by Magilla_Gorilla » Tue Jul 10, 2012 1:03 am

They're matching. I don't even think its a question they're matching. People can piss all over Asik all they want, but this coaching staff values him, and this front office understands his worth.

He's spent two years in the NBA and has already become one of the best defenders in the NBA. I don't care that he only plays 14 minutes a game, over the next two to three years he is going to have a big impact on the success of this team. The continued success of our deep and talented front court allows our average offense to compete and win against the best teams in the league.

And besides, Omer rock your body. All day. All night.

I can't keep debating this. I've debated like 5 times now. Most people didn't support Hinrich at the MMLE 2 days ago, now most are okay or happy with the move. There will be criticism from both ends before and after the Asik Decision is done because the decision the Bulls make is never going to be perfect on this one.

He was an important part, but not the be-all, end-all. The Bulls will always be an elite defensive team as long as Thibs is the coach and Paxson/Gar are running the FO. Defense has never been an extended problem on this team in the Paxson Era.

Asik is money against the Heat, too. We need his big ass to thwart the efforts of LeBron and Wade.

How would you replace Asik and remain a contender? Seriously I'm curious to see what's your solution.

We aren't lacking trade chips or expiring contracts.

So the Bulls are going to turn each one of their four expiring contracts over the next three seasons into valuable pieces?

Scratch Pryzbilla as an option (hopefully), very injury prone, coming off of 2 knee surgeries, lost a ton of quickness which has badly hurt his defensive numbers.

No but a team might want one expiring player over another based on need.

Captain Omerica has been sent to Russia on a highly classified secret operative mission, called....."Asik and Destroy". His mission, if he chooses to except it is to sneak into a government facility and steal highly classified information, he has the right to kill and lay the turkish hammer on anyone who gets in his way. After the mission is complete he is to return to Omerica and go into hiding until everything cools over. He will be relocated for the time being in a very small town in Texas, where the people there like, drinking beer and doing the Turkish two step in their free time.

Deng? Boozer? Noah? I seriously doubt a team is going to be telling us "Yeah if only you kept Asik and his expiring contract for 2014-15, then we'd do this deal."

The Bulls aren't lacking in expirings or trade assets right now.

Asik shuts down entire offenses by himself.

that f'ing takes the cake......  in 15 damn minutes a game, no less!

the homers are in full force tonite!

if this guy were in a different uniform, and getting signed for such an outlandish amount, there's no doubt in my mind ALL the asik support group would be calling his team's FO a bunch of idiots.

So their going to pay a player 15 mil, that produces garbage numbers, and then have to deal with him being a ufa the next year, maybe getting either jack squat back, or just leaving to another team? They'll have cap space, but why pay 15 mil, when you can just add a way better player for half the price or even the same price?

We don't even know the "full complete" details of the contract.

Lets say we find out tomorrow Asik has a $5M buyout on his final year, now all of a sudden the contract is looking very good.
