Of course teams will shell out 14.5 million for Lopez, you don't pay attention if you think they wont. If he stays healthy....IF.....then that contract is very movable. Portland would give him $14.5, Bobcats would give him $14.5, Houston would give him $14.5.....I mean the list goes on. This is the NBA we are talking about, the same NBA where we watch DeAndre Jordan get stupid money, Roy Hibbert get stupid money. 7 footers get big contracts, and a 7 footer who can put up 18 ppg will definitely get $14.5. Look at Chris Kamen.

Now would I pay Lopez $14.5 million???? F*** NO!!!!!!! But a lot of other teams would

Kwame Brown
Jerome James
Eddy Curry
......I mean the list goes on

A lot of other teams would? Really? So how come he has had zero offers???

How do you know he has zero offers? Because Broussard hasn't tweeted any updates? You don't know what is going on behind the scenes. I'm sure he has gotten interest, but being a RFA pretty much spoils things. Especially when the Nets' owner is filthy rich and will surely match any offer unless he is getting Dwight.

I don't think Lopez is worth 14.5 million, probably closer to 8-9. But NBA teams will overpay for 7 footers, it happens all the time. Being a 7 footer capable of scoring 20+ ppg and still being young enough to improve, Lopez can easily be moved.

Yes, team's will. He will be overpaid... I don't get your point. I think you are assuming that since teams would be willing to pay him that much, you expect them to also trade something of value for him... on top of overpaying him? You'd be very wrong. Again. What are you expecting back?

But again, yes, I agree, he'll be overpaid. However... I'm sort of dumbfounded at the thought that you might think that the Magic should trade Dwight for the privilege of being that team to overpay him. :-?

Where on earth does it say I want Lopez on this team?!?!?!?! Please show me where..........I am waiting............No way in hell I want Lopez. I am arguing the point that teams wont line up to pay the tool

Eh... came in on the middle of the conversation I guess. Just seemed you were defending the Nets trade. So many ppl discussing the trades, arguments just kinda blend. My bad.

Have any other teams even shown interest in Lopez this summer?? If not, then how would his market value be set at a max contract? You take what teams will pay you.

You actually just provided some good examples for the opposite argument. All of those players were difficult to move. We would be the schmucks that pay him, and then we wouldn't be able to deal him until he was an expiring deal.

The chances of us moving him after we signed him durin gthe next year are low based on the history you just listed.

All those players are way less talented then Lopez!

Listen I do not want Lopez on our roster, just dont be ignorant and think that in the NBA a 7 footer who can give you 18 ppg 6 rpg an 1.5 blks cant be traded or is not in demand

Are you telling me that Brook Lopez is a better player right than when Chris Kaman first got his deal? Kaman is a former all-star. And still, no one wanted that deal. The bottom line is this, Lopez shoots under 50 percent from the field. That's not good at the center position. That's bad shooting.

What's the trade market for a 7 footer who is unathletic, could end up having a bad foot, doesn't rebound, doesn't play defense, and shoots a low percentage in comparison to other centers...which makes him a volume scorer, rather than a good offensive player?

I'm guessing that in December, which would be the first time we're actually able to trade him...other teams realize it's a bad deal, like we would....and on one would touch it. Much like no one wanted Kaman's deal, even though he was a better player than Lopez is now.

I only sign off on a Lopez max deal if he goes elsewhere immediately. Meaning, someone else takes him in the Dwight deal. He never sets foot in Orlando. If ever has to be on our books, I don't want it...because we'll get stuck with him.

Then wouldn't the real smart play on Orlando's part to be to wait until someone extends an offer sheet to Lopez that he likes, let him sign it...and that instantly makes him untradeable, and Dwight can no longer even demand a trade there?

It 100 percent financially removes the Nets from the discussion. And Dwight can't claim Hennigan screwed him, because he can't control what Lopez does.

Has Orlando traded Dwight to Brooklyn yet??????????????? No, so step off the ledge and be patient

What are you talking about? This reply doesn't make sense for my quoted post.

Don't think we can gauge his worth based on offers. I was thinking Anderson would get 9-10 million, took a while for Anderson to get some chatter going, but he still got his expected money. I see Brook Lopez getting close to the max.

The Cavaliers are having second thoughts about potential three-team deal with the Magic and Nets, according to source. They may back out.

Nope just stating most GMs in this league are idiots who spend way too much on players. Look at the stupid contracts being given out after a lockout that was supposed to stop this from happening :nonono:

But trust me, I will be just as mad as everyone else if Orlando pulls the trigger on this pile of garbage the media is trying to push. But he has not been traded to Brooklyn yet, so I am not gonna get worked up

Honestly though, I have enough faith in Henny that if he does take Lopez, it means the Houston and the Lakers were not offering anything of substance

Hou would give us the best package if we can't deal with Lakers

Hou give us

Martins expiring
2 of their rookies from this draft
Raptors 1st round pick 2013 which is top 4 protected
2 future 1st round picks
Parsons

Orl sends
Dwight
Jrich
Duhon

This would be WAY better then Nets deal..We would most likely have 2 top 10 picks in next yrs drafta nd young talent and cap space

I don't even believe the Cavs were ever even serious about it. There's no way anyone is going to take Humphries for 4 years.

And the Cavs don't even need to get involved to sign him. I don't even understand why Kris Humphries is waiting around for a Dwight Howard trade to possibly happen. The Nets have treated him like crap. I'd be out looking for own deal, and telling the Nets to shove it. He really has nothing to gain by being apart of this deal.

In fact, he has a lot to lose. While he won't get the 4 years he's seeking, he could certainly get more than one by leaving himself out of this deal.

The latest team linked to the multi-team Dwight Howard trade? The Timberwolves. They may get involved in the talks, according to sources.

I believe Houston traded Kyle Lowry to get a pick to make a play for Howard. They were trying to Toronto's 2012 pick for Lowry leading up to this year's draft, but it didn't work out. But they got a deal done for Toronto's 2013 lottery pick, but I believe it's top 5 protected. But I think they'll be good enough to where they likely won't be picking top 5.

That pick should be what we as the Magic organization should be chasing, along with a pair of Houston's 2012 first round picks...or maybe even all 3.

Getting someone like Jeremy Lamb, plus possibly picking twice in the top 10 next season should absolutely be our top priority. And based on his work history, I fully believe this is what Rob Hennigan is chasing.

It's the Cavs, then the Clips, then the Bobcats, now the Twolves. Did I miss anyone?

Sounds like Hennigan is just running Brooklyn in circles, and biding his time.

Agreed this is a way better package then NJ and dont forget Montejunas. But the problem is, no one knows for sure if Houston is actually offering this. It is all just speculation from "sources"

Kevin Love has been unhappy lately with the Wolves.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/81430 ... oeful-ways

If we could get Love, W Johnson, Darko, Ridnour and a 1st rd pick for Dwight, J Rich and Q Rich, I'd take that.

Nelson/Ridnour/Wayns
Redick/Liggins/Sutton
Johnson/Hedo/Earl
BBD/Nicholson/Harper
Love/Darko/O'Quinn

^^^^ That team has crazy depth and could be a 5th seed or better.

I wonder if Portland has been contacted about taking Lopez. The went after Hibbert but Pacers matched similar contract to Lopez new contract. They seem pretty desparate to add a big man next to LA by offering Hibbert a max contract.

Are we able to do a trade with POR for Batum using Lopez and perhaps Turk (I recall POR having interest in him when he was a FA). :dontknow:
