I'd prefer this over any garbage the nets are offering.

Hawks should take their chances and make a deal. If Dwight wants to walk next summer to attractive free agent destinations such as Cleveland and Charlotte, while making financial sacrifices in the process, let him go.

Yeah if the Hawks offer Horford + Teague + expiring + 1st round picks, Orlando should take it and run. No team is going to top that for a Howard rental.

That's a great deal and even though I'm a Laker fan, I want the Magic coming out well from the deal. It would be nice if Atlanta, a team otherwise heading for rebuilding, would suddenly get rich.

It would also make the Joe Johnson trade.... well, ironic.

By the time Howard is out of his prime(Which isn't long for a Center coming off a nasty injury), the Magic could be done rebuilding.

If you get a package led by Horford, do the deal and RUN.

I honestly can't see Howard leaving Atlanta if they trade for him.

Why not take the risk and get Dwight and resign him and his best friend Josh Smith and then try get CP3 in the offseason. Even if Dwight walks you still have no bad contracts and our picks to rebuild with.

Knicks can be put in the convo at the least.....

I think the team that gets Dwight, will endure a half season of trouble with chemistry. I speak as that from someone who saw the Melo trade really wipe out games and to this day are trying to mesh.

Do you really think that Dwight would walk away from Atlanta if they trade him w/o an extension? NO WAY

He wants to A) win B) be popular.

He'll have a really good team in Atlanta with him and JSmith + they'll have the cap space to add even more pieces in 2013 FA.

And i think the city of Atlanta would embrace a real charasmatic superstar after having the most dissapointing "superstar" guy in a Joe Johnson. Also his best friends play on the team! He's not gonna just leave them high and dry

Plus Atlanta wil have his Bird RIght (I dont know) and they will have alot of cap room as well, to resign Josh and get one more, so its going to be MLE or alot of more money. Things that make you go hmm.

I wouldn't be so sure about all this. I don't think hes shown any indication he wants to play for ATL even though it logically makes a lot of sense.

Yeah that's my exact thoughts. He can't get to Brooklyn via FA, so Atlanta acquiring him (let's say Horford & Harris & pick for Dwight, J-Rich), they have Teague/JRich/FA/Smith/Dwight, some decent cap space in 2013... where's Dwight gonna go?

Dallas, Cleveland, Charlotte, Houston currently appear to be the other teams with cap space.

Dwight would become the most unpopular player in the NBA ever if he forced his way out of Orlando, and then left his hometown team via FA.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

At this point I'm starting to believe he would "retire" until the Nets could somehow work out a way to acquire him.

Howard wanted Orlando to trade for Smith & Ellis, right? Hawks could have this trio next summer if they remain felxible in a trade for Howard.

Horford, Teague, Zaza and picks for Howard and J-Rich? then sign Jarett Jack & Ellis, resign the natives, and there's a lineup that can compete with Miami's small ball: Jack-Ellis-Richardson-Smith-Howard

Teague/Horford+ picks for Dwight.

Fill out the team but keep enough cap space for 2013.

Even if CP3 extends with the Clippers, they can go after Monta Ellis.

Ellis/Smith/Dwight

Dwight won't walk away from that.

Also, Atlanta can give him one more year and alot of money as well, I think that this deal is common sense, but if he wants to get to Brooklyn that badly, then its going to be by FA and for MLE.

Plus, this can be a good story for the NBA and for the city of Atlanta as well.

To MrHidden...Lol obviously hes not retiring, I was kidding about that, but he just seems like such a pouty whiner who has chosen one specific team he will play for and the rest of the league can fck off. There is a reason that this Nets deal is even in the relm of possibility despite how horrid it is...because no team is willing to give anything significant for him when they know he has a great chance of leaving at the end of this year.

The fact he opted in for one more year just makes me hate him even more...this whole fiasco could be over by now if he hadn't been a moron and just prolonged this entire ordeal even more.
