Hawks should do everything to get him even just to rent him.

They're going nowhere anyways. Might as will just give up Horford/Teague/Picks and try and have Smith convince him to stay in his hometown. If not, you just start all over like they should now anyways.

Maybe D12 might not like to play in his hometown...too many requests for local public appearances, distractions from family, friends, etc.. more pressure and expectations being from Atlanta.

I do think the Hawks have the advantage of Josh Smith being D12's best friend.

If the Hawks pull this off, Howard is a Hawk the next 6 years.

Do players have a say in where they can be traded? Nash seemed very thankful that the Suns traded him to a team he desired. Howard has been a bitch about Brooklyn but if I was a GM I would trade him to Milwaukee. So what's keeping the Magic from finalizing a deal like that? Does Howard have veto power? Or any other player for that matter.

What's the Hawks risk in trading for Howard ?

1) He is a baby and still wants to go to Brooklyn .. Can't the Hawks then take Brook Lopez/ Marshon Brooks and three first round draft picks . I mean Horford + Teague > Brook / Marshon but
not by a huge gap

2) Howard stays in Atlanta and plays with his buddies Morrow and Josh

3) Hawks will have cap to make run at Cp3 and keep Dwight and Josh
making them one of best teams in league

There is no free agent next year (possibly outside CP3) that is going to make that huge of a impact as Dwight

Harden
Ibaka
Monta
Jennings
Bynum possibly

It makes sense for the Hawks because they are kind of blowing it up anyways. Even if Howard walks, so long as you're not taking on bad contracts or giving up draft picks, it's fine.

Plus having his bird rights, Josh Smith, and space to get CP3 is about as good as a team could gamble for.

Also if you do it, you guarantee Dwight can't go to Brooklyn and build another superteam in your conference. Which is what suprises me about teams like Cleveland wanting to help out Brooklyn. It's like these teams don't realize they have to beat that team afterwards.

It's part of why no one will do a trade with Pat Riley. No one wants to be the guy who gives the Heat a legit center for garbage.

The Orlando Magic have re-opened negotiations with teams other than the Brooklyn Nets for Dwight Howard, a league source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

The Atlanta Hawks are one of the teams but "not the best option," the source said.

I just don't see the Nets in the running anymore at this point. The negatives of the proposed deal out way the positives for Orl tremendously. Glad to hear Hennigan is reportedly moving onto other suitors

"Multiple league executives told ESPN.com on Sunday that there is growing reluctance among some teams to participate in the sort of three-team deal that would get Howard to Brooklyn, amid some leaguewide dissatisfaction that the Los Angeles Lakers were able to swing a deal for Steve Nash last week."

Lets face it, this was all a smokescreen expecting a team/GM to flinch which clearly wasn't the case...

I think the Lakers just gave them an offer, take it or leave it, if you don't want it, that's fine.
