I don't care if we trade with LA or Houston, just don't deal him to the Nets. Fck what he wants. Fck Fegan. Fck super teams.

I am actually on board with this. I am assuming ( I know I shouldn't but I am ) that Dwight has said he will resign in LA, and Bynum has said he'd resign in Houston not Orlando. So Orlando dumps a bunch of bad contracts and gets a lot of young players and picks back. Houston and LA get centers that want to be there, and Henny gets his picks/youth/and cap space. Everyone wins

With four-team Dwight Howard deal no longer in play, source says Houston is calling teams with cap space looking to dump more salary. The Rockets are still pushing hard to put the best package in front of Orlando, though @EricPincus is reporting the Rockets' target may be the Lakers' Andrew Bynum. Per Pincus, the Magic, Rockets and Lakers have had preliminary talks about a deal that would send Howard to the Lakers, Bynum to Houston and picks/prospects/cap relief to Orlando

Of course I would like Bynum to come here but that with the picks and youth coming back here, I'll be happy.

That is the deal we want. That is straight up the best way to go. We load up with draft picks and salary cap room. Smart move.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXV Off-Season Edition
Seriously....if the plan is to get draft picks, young talent, and clear cap then the HOU trade is a complete no brainer. Try to ship out Dwight + JRich and you get back:
Parsons, White, some other young gun (Lamb?), KMart expiring, NYKs expirings they just shipped em, HOU 2013 pick, TOR 2013 pick. Possibly try to dump another contract on them if possible. You clear quite a bit of cap space for next summer....can go after at least one max guy next summer (maybe Bynum if he is healthy) and probably another premier FA. Always leaves you more trade assets and room to trade other people.
You build around very athletic young talent in those young guys (Parsons is EXTREMELY underrated....can get you 15-7-5 type numbers on a nightly basis at $1mil/yr)....and then you have nice cap room within a year or two to bring in a couple big names around those kids, as well as potentially high draft picks in the next few years.

And the two best centers will play in West, better for us too.

Howard does not want to be in Houston, Bynum does not want to be in Orlando. Again this is only my opinion, but it seems like the only reason this would be going down. And I am all for it

guess if Rob's plan is to fully rebuild through clearing the cap and drafting, this would evidently be the best route... even though it does sound like we're getting screwed over on this one (we don't even land Bynum)... but i guess as a fan you have to read between the lines, and understand that this might be the best thing to do (get picks/prospects/cap relief).

Just because you have a man crush on parsons who will probably be out of the league in 5 or 6 years.

No need for White, we have a lot of PFs... but Donotas is a PF/C that we MUST bring, Dirk 2.0, baby.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXV Off-Season Edition
Actually folks, I apologize. I fed you some misinformation. Toronto's pick that Houston traded for is not top 5 protected.
It's only top 3 protected in 2013, top 2 protected in 2014, and top 1 protected in 2015.
So yes, any deal we make regarding Howard needs to include the Rockets...and us getting that pick, and clearing cap space.
We could have massive cap space by the summer of 2014, Two top 10 or even top 5 picks next summer, and the beginning of a complete and total rebuild. I really want that Toronto pick, really bad.

We're screwed anyway when star players view Orlando the way they do. It's starting to sound like we're becoming the clippers of the east.

Meanwhile, there is still optimism in the Nets camp that a two-team Dwight Howard deal can be done with Orlando. The main reason? As many as five first-round picks are in play that would wind up going to the Magic. They'd obviously be late first-rounders, but Orlando GM Rob Hennigan has prioritized picks above all else in this process.
Lame.

well maybe explaining that if we do this trade we would be tanking this year and getting a top 5 pick likely. any trade with the rockets will give us a Player whos been compared to Dirk in my opinion as well as torontos pick(especially if its not lottery protected) meaning we could easily have 2 top 5 or at worst 2 top 10 picks to rebuild around. think something Like Mohammed and a Center like Zeller, Gobart, Austin, or noel.
I seem to recall Darko being compared to Dirk before he had played at the NBA level as well. I'd rather have a proven talent in Bynum than an unproven European player as the cornerstone of the team.

Yeah I know I feel better about it, because I just read this (which is a bit more in detail than HOOPSWORLD).

Agreed.
the top 2 centers in the game exchange hands and the magic get...
Picks.

a top 2 center in the game.
