This is the best deal the Magic are going to get imo. They get a better mixture of prospects and picks than in the Nets deal, Lamb + their choice of two of White, Jones, or a future 1st from HOU + 2 future 1sts from LA, which is better in that the Nets picks will be later 1sts and they won't get 1-2 of them for a long time. They also get to dump perhaps Howard + Jrich or Hedo for a trade exception and maybe an expiring like McRoberts which saves them $25M or more this year alone. Heck, they could buy 8 1st rounders over the next 8 years with the money they save if they wanted, and they'd be picks that are as good any of the picks coming directly from the Nets who will be selecting in the 26-30 range.

Plus, if they didn't want to pay Ryan Anderson $36M, why do they want to pay Brook Lopez $75M?

They can also rebuild immediately rather than eating up cap space with a huge Lopez contract.

It's funny, Billy King could win exec of the year. But if the Nets don't get Howard because they dealt the #6 pick for a player they could've signed in free agency, he'll deserve to be fired.

So you Laker fans are OK with having to give up Bynum for Dwight for only 1 season? DH said himself there is no other team he would sign an extension with other than BKN.

Not sure why they don't just keep Bynum and hopes he re-signs?

On just the contract alone, Dwight can make $27M more guaranteed with LA than he can with a new team. Brooklyn won't have cap room next year. Plus, he's up for an Adidas extension and they'll pay him more money if he's in LA, NY, or CHI versus any other city. Up to $50M more according to Adrian Wojnarowski. He's not going to leave that much money on the table.

Yep Dwight fits perfectly there him being such a drama queen. He'll probably get his own reality tv show.

But I thought that Hawks has the 2013 Rockets 1st and 2nd this year, i thought?

But its a better deal than Nets but I think Hawks may counter. But the Rockets always hook up LA.

And how exactly is he supposed to sign an extension with Brooklyn?

If Bynum is all the Lakers give up than I won't kill myself over it.

But Dwight has no leverage here. He wants to go to Jersey. The moment he is traded, all that goes out the window and all that is left is re-sign with LA for more money or play elsewhere. I'm positive he will change his tune if he were traded to the Lakers.

Did not know that and thanks for the info. I was just going by what he said.

This is how I see the trade

Houston trades Jeremy Lamb/Terrence Jones/Toronto 1st/Dallas 1st/Kevin Martin/Shawn Livingston
Gets Andrew Bynum/Steve Blake

Lakers trade Andrew Bynum/2016 or 2017 1st/Steve Blake
Gets Dwight Howard Jason Richardson

Magic trade Dwight Howard/Jason Richardson
Gets Jeremy Lamb/Terrence Jones/Toronto 1st/Dallas 1st/Kevin Martin/Shawn Livingston

Magic probably would ask for White Parsons Morris or Patterson also but the Rockets would be giving up too much.

The Magic might as well let Dwight walk. It's pretty much swapping toxic contracts for less toxic ones and a couple of inconsequential picks. Even for Houston this is questionable because Bynum's starting salary for his next contract is going to be around 18 mil, so Morey only has 1-2 years to build a strong supporting cast for Bynum before he eats up too much caproom.

The only way a Howard deal would really make sense is a 2 way trade where the Magic can dump a contract. All these 3/4/5 way deals just aren't going to work unless the Magic is willing to take a low value package.

If he got traded there. Plus I'm assuming he also means that once he becomes a FA, that BKN is the only team he'll sign with.

Should have done this deal pre-draft so that Orlando could have selected who they wanted in the draft opposed to taking whoever houston took

True. The only real threat would be Dallas, and with Cuban, that's not a threat to take lightly.
