A couple of thoughts:

-Coming close to a contract extension with Lopez does not mean they are officially out of the mix. Yeah, they're going to move on if a decision isn't made by tomorrow, which is likely going to happen.

-If the Rockets get Dwight...the Nets could still get him at some point. It would have to be at the trading deadline, but it's possible. They would be able to give a much better offer then. But if he's traded to LA, then no chance, Dwight to the Nets is over.

Contrary to what everyone around here thinks, I'm not bummed about Lopez being my team's starting center for the next 4-5 years. Obviously, I want Howard, but that doesn't look like it's going down, so whatever, Lopez is a very good player.
