Can't say I'm surprised one bit about Deron's decision, but a little bit disappointment is mixed in there. I'll remain the lone Mavs fan that curses the FO for not resigning Chandler.

PS: And if Kidd doesn't sign with you now he is a liar, as I suspected all along.

Thanks...I know that both sides have some trollish posters but for the most part, you guys have been pretty civil.

Did you ever hear the joke about a 38 year old Canadian Point Guard??

Well it goes a little like this, once upon a time a team were desperate to try and steal some limelight off the Brooklyn Nets. So what did they do?? Well they decided to throw their best guard and prospect in general over to the Suns in a S&T which would net (see what I did there) them a 38 year old point guard with a bad back on a 3 year deal for over $10m per year......hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

.....oh wait, it's actually a reality, it isn't a joke, they really want Nash to stand on the court and watch Melo iso. Boy it would've been good to run the Suns system between Nash & Stat, if only they could somehow get D'Antoni to coach them......hmmmmmmm

I'm basically calling out everyone one of my friends that said for months he was going to Dallas.

If Dwight gets traded here I'm basically gonna go take a $#!T on John Hollinger's front lawn.

I just read the full Insider article from Hollinger. And in my opinion? Its a crap article.

Basically his point is we are about a million shy of making it all work for Dwight. But, he calculates Crash at 8.9 in his first year and Deron at the max. Crash can come in for around 8.1 mil in his first year and still get the full 40 over 4. I would guess they could also ask him to do it over 5 but lets not speculate on that right now.

Could cancel Evans. Teletovic could be for a bit less than the the full MLE.

I cant believe Deron wouldnt take 1mil less if it meant Dwight. If not a portion of it. And Hollinger basically admits that the cash match isnt his big issue. And honestly...that should be the ONLY issue if you are going to use the word "impossible".

If its cap possible...its ALWAYS POSSIBLE!

Now is it hard? Yes. The numbers are tight.

But Hollinger harped on compensation for Orlando because we gave away the ability to eat their crap contracts. He believes that someone else can beat our offer of Brook, Marshon, maybe Green and 3 picks.

I will say it again. There are only two types of GM's who will give up a better offer than ours.

1- Those who have an assurance from Dwight's agent that he will extend with them.

2- An insane cowboy willing to gamble the heart and soul of his franchise.

Dwight controls #1. And it doesnt matter who he would sign with in 2013. The threat of I WONT SIGN WITH YOU will scare off most GM's from beating an offer of Lopez, Marshon, and 3 picks.

As for #2...where is this Cowboy? We heard GSW and Houston were the big gamblers. GSW is out. So? Why isnt Dwight in Houston right now if that threat is credible???????

THis is the game we are playing. We have a credible compensation offer on the table for Dwight. Is it fair? No. Can we eat bad contracts for Orlando on top of compensation? Nope. But we are the only team at this time whose GM can have confidence that if he gives up assets he KEEPS Dwight Howard for the next few years.

For us...our leverage ends if:

1- Dwight changes his mind. Which he has done often. If he adds teams to the list that's bad for us. If says he wants to stay in Orlando...bad for us.

2- If there really is an insane GM out there willing to bet his franchise on rent-a-Dwight and hopes it all works out.

3- If Brook Lopez signs an offer sheet with someone else. This ends our chances of Dwight until December 15th. We wouldnt be able to S&T for Dwight now if Brook signs an offer sheet.

That's it. Dont worry about what moves we have made so far that weaken our offer to Orlando. That's done. So what? Our compensation part of the offer is still strong considering Orlando's weak position and Dwight's refusal to add additional teams.

And dont worry about not having cap space in 2013. Yes, that ends any shot of us signing him in 2013. But it doesnt end any shot of us trading for him. As long as its cap feasible, and as long as there is no team actually making a real offer for Dwight...it IS possible to get this done before the season begins. Today, tomorrow or by the end of October...it is possible.

Probable? Well? We have to trust Dwight not to flip flop, we have to hope there are no crzy GM's willing to take a major risk, we have to hope our RFA's do not sign offer sheets elsewhere and we have to hope Orlando wants the best offer they can get which sad as it is for them...is still us. Realize they could trade him for less than our offer. THat's their right.

Anyway....there are a lot of ifs. But the main point? The chess board has Orlando in check in a lot of directions. And the King...our King...has made some huge gambles here based on that.

We are very much alive here on Dwight as difficult as this will be to pull off.

Thank you, Deron. That's one thing that makes me very happy this off-season. Best news the Nets have gotten in a long time.

So remember what I said before on why I thought it was a no brainer that Deron signs with Dallas but I don't want to say what it is before we actually have him signed? Well...uhm...let's see..

Deron, sign with Dallas this off-season. Team with Dirk.

Next season, Dwight becomes a FA (and this time doesn't F it up like he did last season!), and joins him in Dallas.

He takes the risk of rolling in with Dirk for one year, which is a solid opportunity. If that doesn't work, Dwight comes next year as reinforcement and Cuban loads it up.

I missed this.

Would have been impossible if Dwight wanted max and then it would have been those 3 and literally 12 vet minimum players and not a solitary other player, including trading away all draft picks in the 2013 draft in the first round and trading every last single player currently on the roster.

Me too, except the whole thing on DVR lol.

I have about 8 games on my DVR and the only ones I have actually watched again are this one, the 57 point game in Charlotte and the Dallas game where Brook goes for 38.

It was awesome watching that game on MSG on replay a few hours after the game ended. Because there was so much hype about Lin going into the game, and Breen/Frazier were acting like this game was already over after the first few minutes, and Knicks fans were talking about how Lin was going to destroy Deron again...and then Deron kills it.

BTW, I hope you have that OT game against Philadelphia and the Clippers game with Farmar's game winner on DVR, lol. Those were awesome.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
