minimum wagers

Post#1 » by Rollydog » Wed Jul 11, 2012 4:49 am

so we're gonna have like 7 players under contract with or without DHOW who do we get for the minimum?

My #1 choice is Sean Williams, i love that potheaded goofball with all my heart. PLUS he averaged 16 and 3 blocks a game (per 36) for the mavs not to mention 5 ORPG and 75% FGs! and how can we forget this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKF1kyY3qJI

Let it be known that he posted 12pts, 3reb, 1blk, 1stl in less than a quarter that night.

I wouldn't be surprised if we added one or even two of Thornton, Morrison, Sengelia off of our own Summer League roster.

Assuming we stay with Brook and no Dwight trade:

PG - Deron, Taylor
SG - JJ, Brooks
SF - Wallace
PF - Teletovic, Evans
C - Lopez

This gives us 8 players. I am not sure Hump is coming back. One, he apparently is looking for longer than 2 years, and big money. I don't know that I'm willing to give him that. Especially since his insistence in doing so was one of the reasons the Howard trade has been held up. On the other hand, if Mirza proves to be of starting caliber, then Hump can be a nice PF off the bench.

Anyway, the biggest need is backup to Brook...and I'm not sure how we're going to fill this one up to be honest. Centers aren't cheap, and I can't think of any names out there right now that can be had cheap. If anything, I'd like to see if Brand is willing to come for the vet min, mainly because he can do the backup PF role and be savvy enough to slide to C against most smaller line-ups.

I'd like to bring back Green, though I don't think we have bird rights on him, so he's probably out of the question.

At PG, I don't mind Fisher there. Not who he once was defensively, but he can knock down the three and he brings poise and leadership to a team devoid of it.

I think Toko Shengaila makes it, since it seems like he is AK47-esque and can backup both SF/PF spots. We know how Avery likes those types of guys.

The other guys I'd like to roll the dice on? Okur and Greg Oden.

I'd like Jermaine O'neal to get a look if he's got anything left in the tank.

Jordan Hill will probably cost more, but if not I'd sign him with the quickness.

I imagine Shelden will be back.

Shengalia looks legit.

Josh Boone anyone?

Grant Hill had a meal with Billy King last night or the night before, was an All Duke affair...

The best signing we could now make would be Gerald Green. We need to somehow get him to accept a small salary this year with a promise of a bigger deal next year or something along those lines.

I'd target players like Hill, Fisher, Green, O'Neal and any other vets available to fill in. Here's my idea of a decent roster without Howard getting traded, so our roster for opening night.

Williams / Fisher / Taylor
Johnson / Green / Brooks
Wallace / Hill / Shengelia
Teletovic / Hump / Evans
Lopez / O'Neal / S Williams

I'd put money on that 3rd unit giving our starting unit from last season a game.

can't blame the hump for wanting a multi-year, anyway theres no way we can pick up a big man half with the exceptions we have left. if he's not here thats a mistake.

Where the hell do I sign? My boy Boone has gone HAM in China these last few years. You know I'd welcome him back.

Hasn't Grant Hill already said he's probably going to the Lakers or retiring?

He had dinner with Billy and they talked about him coming here, but he's still leaning hard towards Lakers.

Dude Shannon Brown is a generous 6'3''... I think CJ Miles and Bogans are realistic signings (Miles only because him and Deron are BFF, I was really hoping Korver would get waived though because Deron and him are BFF x 2).

Something to also keep in mind is we have 2 small TPE's left.

One for about $1.45 million and another for IIRC $1.39 million.

That's more then vet minimum no matter how many years experience a player has, so I still hold hope that's how we land Grant Hill or Miles and Kenyon Martin or Jordan Hill.
