This is what scares me.

RDV can easily grant Dwight's wish as a token of appreciation for 7.5 yrs of service.

He's already received about 60 million "tokens of appreciation" over the past 7+ years. RDV is a businessman, he hired Henny to lead the team, if they conclude Dwight is gone, Henny will recommend the best option and DeVos will likely follow that recommendation.

It would not surprise me if RDV wants to speak directly with Dwight first, but I don't think Dwight's desires, if in conflict with Henny's recommendation, will imapct this process.

Doesn't this make the Rockets much more likely?

A GM will just get the best deal he can, but if it's DeVos I don't think he would sign off on a trade to the Lakers

Whenever the subject of Dwight leaving came up during the season people would say no way RDV goes through the rebuilding process at his age..with that being said wouldn't a deal that involves us getting back Bynum make more sense?

Also I know we have been talking about 2013 FA for quite some time now..but what do you guys think of 2014 FA? http://www.hoopsworld.com/2014-nba-free-agents

And that is the reason I worry about him ending up with the Nets.

That is what I am talking about. I would NOT be a bit surprised if RDV gave the malcontent what he wants. I hope Henny tries to convince him otherwise.

I mean it just seems like the FO isn't interested in Bynum at all

With Bynum and his agent being told nothing is going on, DeVos possibly having a hand in the trade, and reports saying a 3 way trade is more appealing to them..I just don't think they really want Bynum.

Eventually you gotta think the Lakers will pull out. They have a great lineup already so they could walk and I don't see why they would trade Bynum in conf to Houston so I think a 3 way is unlikely

Just saying I think it's likely the Lakers could drop out of this if Henny is going to keep dragging it out

Its been said before but because "Donut" signed with the Rockets he can't be traded for 6 months.

You would think someone would make lopez an offer if not just to stop another superteam.

Woj said today that there's been a lot of HOU-ORL direct talks for Dwight, and not necessarily involving LAL. This would be fine as well to me. Yeh, maybe we can't dump off one more of the not-so-great contracts....but to be honest, other than JRich (who I think we could dump off to them)...the Duhon,Q,Turk contracts will be basically gone in a year or two anyways. So no biggie. If we are "rebuilding" then we aren't gonna be contenders within a year or two anyways. So it's almost somewhat irrelevant.

Sure, but the problem with this theory that no one wants to acknowledge is that Lopez has to accept the offer sheet.

He actively wants to be in Brooklyn more than anything, so he has to play along so he doesn't ruin his relationship with the team - even though they're trying to trade him.

well atleast we will have some closure today...either we trade him to the nets despite the AWFUL offer and this board explodes or Nets are officially out of it and we can all let out a collective sigh of relief.

From Berger's article.

Despite the changing dynamics, the Magic are projecting confidence that Howard will be traded sooner rather than later. According to people in contact with the Magic front office, there is no appetite for the Howard saga to linger into next week and beyond.

According to some on the Nets board the other day, Charlotte did but Lopez has to cooperate and actually sign the offer sheet and that's what hasn't happened. I think that is where the threat from Lopez agent comes in to the Nets now. If they don't go ahead and sign him, either with a s&t for this deal or outright to the nets, then he will sign the offer sheet he got from another team (they say charlotte) and the deal will be dead.
